Slightly off-topic, but when I was choosing a forum name to use for Weight Watchers (I like to be pseudonymous online), I decided to be 'Cassiona'. Still waiting for somebody to identify it as a B7 reference, but it is quite obscure!

Yes, it's the cracking sound which is the interesting bit, I find. The Earth is being ripped open or crashing together.

Needless to say, several of my Syrian friends in Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras are still living outside in the cold. Fortunately, my friend Fiona had bought her 'family' a whole building which seems to be sound.

On the Limiter experiment theory... so maybe there's another (space) laboratory working on a better version even now! One that the patient doesn't even know about, perhaps.

VILA: The trouble with a genius, is you’re never quite sure what he’s up to.

Vila uses this speech to distract Cally and Jenna while he takes a gun from the armoury. Is Vila trying to tell us he’s a genius… Love the irony of this.

He does get around - really versatile actor, impressive list of credits.

Not everyone in Weight Watchers will be a B7 fan. You could be waiting a long time.

I don't especially like this episode. But I am now toying with the idea that the limiter might have been designed by the Federation to do this - it keeps a violent prisoner sedated, but can be triggered to drive him beserk. He can be turned from a meek animal to a killing machine in seconds. It is breaking down insofar as it is not actually being triggered by the Federation (or is it?) but it is feature, not bug.

Interesting theory. I think it credits the Federation with more advanced tech than they actually seem to have - was Gan's limiter experimental? We never hear of anyone else having one, or being threatened with getting one (unlike eg being turned into a Mutoid).

That would be my theory. It was an experiment, it didn't work very well, and they shipped the surviving subjects off to Cygnus Alpha.

You reckon there was more than one? Maybe if things had worked out differently on CA, Gan might have found a fellow limitee?

Gosh, hope they're okay. The devastation in Turkey and Syria was horrendous.

Vila's been very on-the-ball in the last few episodes. I like how he moves from being openly scared to doing brave things when needed. He's essentially voicing what they all feel – and he gets Blake to admit – but is getting in first in case he flakes. Last ep and this he doesn't at all.

He seems to start out as the 'everyman' character but migrates into the thief/coward persona as the series goes on. Ends up rather more stereotyped than he started.

One of the online coaches was - and a bloke, too! But he didn't get the reference, though he liked it when I used the Teleport Bay for zoom background. Sadly, he's gone back to doing local RL meetings in south London, so I can't chat B7 with him any more.

Everyone, Turkish friends included, is safe. The friend of one woman I know lost 14 people in her family. We've sent massive funds to our friends to pay for fuel, food, blankets, baby food etc. for themselves and help others. Same to Syria through a Syrian archaeologist friend. Direct, on-the-ground help is working faster than the authorities.

And on that note, I have to love and leave you.

Thanks for the company and chat - it was great being able to join in, even if I think I rather derailed the B7 chat into a myriad other topics!

MVirn, I'll reply later to your email - thanks as ever for everything.

Stay safe, well and warm everyone.

In a way I don't mind the changes that occur because they 'fit'. Everyone goes through lots of terrifying experiences that are going to affect them in different ways. To imagine that real people would just keep popping up, week after week, and not be affected at all is fantasy. Vila uses one of his guises as a defense and then, ultimately, falls into it.

Couldn't agree more. I wasn't meaning it as negative, just an observation. It's safer for him, partly because it means people don't expect much of him (like one of my cadets who managed (deliberately) to get herself into the bottom group for everything at school! Took them three years to suss her out).
