Hi everyone - sorry I'm so appallingly late. I'm also sorry for Gan - I wish he'd had a better episode than this to be centre stage in. I think he's driving, Obsidian, because no-one else can be bothered - Gan is always very obliging about helping out. Hi Anne! How's the weather where you are? MVirn and I have established that it's freezing both north and south of Watford! There is no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes

How are you, MVirn? Cold! Hope things warm up soon. Nipping out again to welcome that newbie... It's so cold - we're even expecting snow down south tomorrow. ![]() The daffodils and crocuses (croci?) are shivering. As am I. Glad you can be here Travisina even if you're feeling cold. We're having Summer at last. Daffodils and crocuses won't be unhappy with snow. Ours barely last anymore. Did you have a good trip? I've just started. I had a lovely trip to Israel - but it was SO COLD THERE AS WELL! Storm Barbara, with torrential rain, sleet and freezing temperatures. And of course the central heating broke down in my Mum's retirement home, so the shop across the road did a roaring trade in hot water bottles. Oh, and we got part of the Turkish/Syrian earthquake. Approx 5.8 in Jerusalem, swayed the buildings, though no real damage. And then several smaller earthquakes of our own, over the next few days, mainly down the Jordan rift valley. Felt quite Biblical, with all that going on. Oh great re the central heating. Always when you least want it to fail. Knew you'd get the earthquakes. I've read every historical record for earthquakes in the region from the 19th C going back to 1200 BCE. Largely to explain damage to and formation of archaeological sites. I'm waiting for Beirut to fall off the edge of the map.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Did I tell you yet? I’m coming back to Europe. Sweden first (30 April) then UK about 25 May. Fantastic! Let me know when you're going to be in London, it would be great to meet up again. You going to ABBA again...? Where else would she be going? If there's a meet-up in London, please let me know. It would be nice to put faces to the posts! Oooh I certainly hope so. My attempts to meet up last time all fell apart. But I have more advance notice this time, so hopefully we can organise something. Also, I hear some B7 cast and crew might be going to the Brit Sci-fi but I can’t seem to find anything about when or where?? |

Hi, Obsidian - how is Louella? Louella is fine. She's completely cowed Fergus who will now only come in to eat. So she has to spend much longer in her room. Ho hum. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

I don't especially like this episode. But I am now toying with the idea that the limiter might have been designed by the Federation to do this - it keeps a violent prisoner sedated, but can be triggered to drive him beserk. He can be turned from a meek animal to a killing machine in seconds. It is breaking down insofar as it is not actually being triggered by the Federation (or is it?) but it is feature, not bug. |

You have daffodils and crocus in the south? Here in the wild North Virn's daffodils haven't woken up yet , but the snowdrops are looking good. I have daffs and crocuses in my garden. But it is very sheltered. |

These planets have tiny populations. Jenna says 'population in excess of 7,000,000' as if it was something - but that's about the population of London, isn't it? |

I think he really was a violent and manipulative person. There'd be nothing and no reason to fix it otherwise. Given Kayn's politics, you'd think he might have some idea if a failure of the mechanism were a built-in double bluff. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

And again, one cannot have a 'co-ordinate three'. There has to be another part to a co-ordinate. That's what 'co-' means.

It was weird. The big quake hit at 3.00am local time, and I happened to be awake. Staying with my brother in his flat on the 5th floor of an 8-floor block of flats, on one of the higher hills of Jerusalem. Felt the building sway in waves, several times back and forth. First thought was 'wow, Storm Barbara is really strong!', second thought was 'maybe it's an earthquake?', third thought was 'it's stopped now and I'm really tired so might as well get some sleep'. I'm not very bright at 3.00am! My brother slept right through it. Next morning the news was all about the Turkish quake, so we got off very lightly in comparison. We had a quake here in Canberra back in 1977. There is an important fault that runs nearby. In the middle of the night there was a massive cracking sound. My nearest and dearest woke up going wazzat???!!! I just came to and went "It was just an earthquake, go back to sleep." Next day our double brick house (the kind that huffing and puffing wolves can't blow down) had some nice cracks in the upper walls. Have a word with Wordsworth about his hosts of daffodils! At least his were the lovely wild ones, not the enormous yellow things that people call daffs these days. But he has a lot to answer for round here. Blimmin' tourists! "You're not sulking, I hope?"
