And what will absorb the kinetic energy of the human body? The force caused by the impact acceleration would smash it like melting butter on bread. |

She needs ironing. Talk like that could get you arrested. I'm in hiding in darkest Stoke. Nobody goes there.... Don't be so sure. M Kid probably considers Stoke palatial. Vote Og.

I imagine a technology that has advanced far enough for space travel would have some sort of 'buffering' effect in case of impacts. Not that it helped much in Marryat's case. You mean some artificial gravitational field to compensate for the impact acceleration - very powerful indeed, finely tuned by a computer every nanosecond, both in direction and strength. It could be used as a devastating weapon - even Lord Taarn still had not achieved such a powerful gravitational field. - not plausible theory. And engine for smooth landing sounds more practical. |

I think Blake's character stays consistent throughout the show. Focussed or blinkered, he steers a true (for him) course.

People have survived falls from 2 miles up without even a case to absorb the impact. It could work assuming the capsule is big enough to fall slowly like a balloon, but Ill prefer a paraschute. |
