Tyce - my husband suggests you try https://www.stathanshotel.com/ The Budget Green Hotel, Euston, London. He's stayed there and says the prices are reasonable.

Is it a safe area for a woman on her own??

Not sure you can say anywhere is in London. Maybe ask the hotel?

Really? (about London) I march around it quite happily. I'm not silly, but I've never felt unsafe.

I would agree. In any big city you should not get complacent, but I don't think it's especially dangerous.

That would be possible. Bamburgh is a possible day's journey for me.

I'm heading up on the train from Dorset.

When?

I think I cut the right bits...

Thurs June 20.

Could do that, I think! I would get the train to Berwick, then it's a short bus ride to Bamburgh - just need to check times.

Exactly what I'll be doing but with a suitcase. Oh joy. Smile[/quote]
Sadly I’ll be back in Australia by 20 June. But I will be in London from 27 May to 10 June. so could meet up with you any time between then.

MsVirn, I saw only the comment of Budget Green Hotel., not the website. ST. Athans is where I stay and have a couple of times. I recommend it highly.

Tyce, you'll be very safe there.

That would be great! And if you are at St Athans, there's quite a lot going on round there, in terms of cafes etc. It's a very studenty area - also rather pretty, lots of little squares with gardens, as far as I remember. The haunt of intellectuals in the early 20th century - Virginia Woolf and her lot.

I'll be staying there again this time after all my travelling around. They are very helpful. It's right near the University of London; lots of restaurants, access to interesting places like the BM etc.

Did we lose Pilot again? Hope he's OK. I'd better go and see what's happening with the Big Nose downstairs. Take care all of you! Try not to work* too hard.

*or in Tyce's case, party

Thanks for your company.

Exactly. An ideal central spot.

OK. I will look up which LNER trains stop at Berwick, Obsidian, and how that meshes with the buses to Bamburgh. And oh yes, the joys of trailing a suitcase . . .

And Tyce, let me know when you are fixed up in London, and we'll arrange a day for me to come down. I can be fairly flexible, I think, and (if you are in Bloomsbury) that's very easy to get to from King's Cross (my station).

Bye everyone. I hope you have a lovely week. See you next weekend (maybe).

Terrific AA! I'd like to do a Farne Island/Holy Island tour on one day and maybe visit a wool place on another, but sounds good. The main aim is to jump up and down on that beach and those dunes. See you there!

Have a good week, everyone! Hope your husband is OK, Ms Virn. I'm told the weather should be warmer next weekend (warm weather for a Bank Holiday, though? Not likely, IMO). But we will go from a partial success for Blake to his greatest failure.
