It means 'tapioca' in India.

So Servalan's not into wine. Just the champagne. Now we know what to give her for Christmas.

We are not surprised. I'm convinced that his superiority complex came only from his military status, not from being a true Alpha as many fan writers assume; he's too bumptious.

Since Star Wars?

I was thinking that it might be a thing introduced by Tarrant - a remnant of his Federation training.

Could be. That would fit with what I was just saying about his pushy superiority.

I wouldn't take what she says here as gospel. She doesn't want to appease Grose and Lecter.

Tarrant's a spoilt little boy who never had his corners knocked off. Daddy probably paid for his commission - unliklely to have been given one on merit - after his other son refused to join the family firm and left Earth.

Grin I was going to say Vere Lorrimer because it sounds like one of his and, lo and behold, after a quick flick through Stevens and Moore, that's exactly who was responsible.

But Servalan always tells the truth! (For a given value of 'truth'Wink).

I think it is exaggerated in series 3, because he is trying to hide his insecurity, and trying to project himself as effective. In series 4 it is dialled back considerably.

In this ep. Vila gives the definite impression of being a lone drinker. He likes wine, women and song but is picky in that respect and enjoys drowning his sorrows in private. The crims here are NOT his kind of people.

After his brother dies, perhaps Tarrant realises he doesn't have to prove anything any more, and anyway, by series D he's beginning to find his place alongside the rest of the crew.

I've got this CD!

The name of the track is 'liberated' from the BBC Essential Sound Effects album. On the BBC album it is (of course) a sound effect from "Ultraworld", given a long and silly title. These guys saw it and liked it, and adopted it for their track.

I think very much the latter. The crew also becomes more purposeful in series 4.

Nah. Still think he's an over-weaning prat with very good reasons for feeling insecure. Series 4 just assumes longevity and the break with the Liberator which throws them all into new circumstances where they are variously affected. Vila and Avon have greater reasons to feel seriously traumatised, whereas Tarrant and Dayna can renegotiate their positions. Tarrant then goes on to show what a plonker he is through his various dalliances.

I like Servalan's 'precious stones' - that isn't what she is really thinking, but she wants to project herself as 'mere woman'.

That's correct Joe Dredd. Good to have you here. I've seen the soundtracks records various times but have never bought a copy. Don't think I can sit through all extended 18 minutes or whatever it is of The Orb's version, though I've managed a few.

Yes, it was Vere. It's completely his style. While the 'songs' he wrote were kinda embarrassingly, sweetly coy, I can't fault the man for his energy and efforts for this show.

That frock's good on her. A bit draughty in places, perhaps, but it works for the Fight in the Buddleia Forest.

By all accounts he was a very nice man. I love all the behind-the-scenes stories though (Cally/Sally etc) - it adds another layer of enjoyment to the B7 'cake'.

Yes, he's Uncle Vere to me and I never met him, just read everything about him. I love that video from Space City I think it was, when it was Paul's 40th birthday and he said hello to the boys and girls. Such an endearing quality.
