HI, Anne. You survived the summer shcool, then? How did it go? It was OK in the end. I'd over-prepared drastically - I will have to remember that for another year! But I was working until at least 11pm every night, and teaching all day. I'm exhausted! |

If that were me? I'd jump at the change to with Kirril to that other peaceful place start a new life with her. It's hard not to like someone without them not liking you back. But Kirril loved Villa yet he didn't realised till he was back on board the Liberator with the crystals. Australia

I'm just starting. I don't like these shots of space with plinking music at the beginning. There are a few eps that start like that (is 'Horizon' one of them?) - as establishing shots go, it's very dull. There is no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes

Lately noticed each character has an episode dedicated to them ( either as solo or with another) & this one of Villa is by far one of my favorite ones. Yes, although Series 3 seems to lack a purpose and direction, each of the characters gets an ep centred on them, which is one of its strengths. I think that series 3 lacks purpose because the crew, without Blake, lack purpose. Avon's initial response to Tarrant coming in and trying to take over is to go all passive aggressive, like last week. It takes him a while to get over it and sort himself out. Astute observation, Anne. Avon isn't a natural leader, it's a role he isnt' comfortable with. The Federation is now only represented by Servalan, which is bound to lead to complications... Avon is a natural critic - a vital role, but doesn't turn readily to leadership. And yes, there is also a lack of purpose in the Federation - it's not certain what form it's going to take, or if it's going to exist at all. |

How DID Tarrant negotiate with the Keezarnians? That's never explained.

I suppose the idea is to suggest the vastness of space - but it is very dull. |

Oh, Colin Baker is wonderful! And he's so lovely in real life, I met him at the Supreme Cat Show a few years ago. And he did the whole 'I had a mother...' speech by heart!

Presumably they were 'dressing him down' so that he didn't overshadow the others. But Michael is such a great actor he can overcome his costumes. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Yes, he loves cats. It was such a fun event - the show had a sci-fi theme, and they had him as one of the guest judges, along with Paul Darrow and John Leeson. And they did panels and signings as well as cat-judging. I'll have to dig out and re-publish the review we had on Horizon.

He also used to hunch over a bit when he was standing next to Avon, because they were the same height and Vila needed to be smaller. Vila is someone whose whole survival strategy is based on being useful, but unthreatening. He would naturally adopt a 'humble' posture. Edited by AnneArthur on 06-08-2022 09:58 |

The height thing is so misleading. I mean, we get the impression that Servalan is tall, when in fact she's tiny. Look at how they had to angle the cameras in 'Sand' when she was next to Tarrant!

Again, it's the posture. In her own mind she is the dominant person in any room - so people think of her as taller than she is. |

So - the number of studs on your costume is a measure of how agressive/bad you are?
