Well, that was a top episode.

I wonder if we'll be in a position to watch the remastered Blu-ray version of it this time next year.

I have read a rather scathing review of the Blu-rays on one of the Facebook sites.

Who's seen them? They're not released until November.

Possibly a review copy? I think the gist of the criticism was that they had remastered the special effects scenes but not the others, so that it was rather uneven. I'm afraid that my response was surprise, as I didn't know about the Blu-rays. And I wasn't much interested - I watch Blake's 7 for the dialogue, the ambiguity, the character conflicts and the lack of cheery optimism, not for the effects.

Same. It's the extras I'm interested in, not the FX.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Is this anyone's favourite episode? It's not mine but I do like it a lot. Although I get the feeling I don't like it as much as general fandom.

No.3 for me after Star One and Blake.

I go through phases of watching it and thinking that it's all a bit OTT, and then watching it again and thinking that it's really rather good. It would make my top ten, definitely, but not always my top five.

Exactly. In fact, I refer you to the answer I gave earlier!
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

We could have it acted by the ABC Interpretive Dance Bandicoot, as First Dog on the Moon would have it.

First Dog is a cartoonist. He used to be in Canberra and does excellent cartoons for the Guardian. Australian wildlife appear in many roles. So do two-headed aliens and a cast of dogs. Completely mad but brilliantly cutting.

As for the wombats, I haven't seen that ad here at all yet. Maybe soon.

I am surprised that you hate Sarcophagus and love Sand, Ms Virn. I much prefer Sand myself (definitely in my top five) but I can Sarcophagus doing much the same thing - taking an uneplored relationship and taking it somewhere interesting.

Anyway, thanks for the rewatch, everyone. See you next week I hope!

Yes - I've seen him in the Guardian. Brilliantly cutting, as you say. I haven't seen the Interpretive Dance Bandicoot, but I can imagine!

What's so good about Blu-ray anyway? It's the extras they're including that matter!

If they can remaster the episodes so they look better, that will be a good thing. The DVDs had a number of faults, including a fairly washed-out picture and some audio drop outs.

Film carries more 'information' that video. Blu-ray has more room and can hold the detail. Have you ever see the remastered episodes of The Professionals? Example - have a look at the scene at about 16 seconds in.

It's a double-edged sword, though. A murky picture can hide all sorts of sins. I remember watching "Power" on DVD for the first time after VHS. The door to the launch silo suddenly looked like a bit of plywood.

It's from Roobarb's forum, a TV-interest website.

There is that thing about 'better' Joe, of course, and I'm hoping that that the clarity will help me to identify some of the glasswear a little better.Smile But also, the sins. I've seen the new version of The Professionals and I suppose it's the lack of graininess that stands out. It's not everything to me though. I WILL be getting the Blu-rays if I can afford them.
