Rewatch Downunder Saturday 18th January 2025 A3 Cygnus Alpha
M1795537OCVirn
Start times: 8.30pm Downunder, 09.30am UK.

A3 Cygnus Alpha.
There's a lot of shouting in this one. And extra-strong mints, if I'm any judge.
Having escaped in his shiny new (but little understood) spaceship, which seems to like Jenna even if Blake hasn't noticed her yet, our hero daringly takes himself to the very same penal colony he was assigned to - and almost gets stuck there. We meet up with a certain thief, his friends, and a nasty case of man flu. Yet more people die as a result of Blake's efforts to free them, and while he and his new gang sail off into the sunset, a whole colony of ex-pats are left to fend for themelves.
NOTE: any smilarities the origins of a certain country are probably unintentional.

I’ve got my mints ready. :-) (What a pity we didn’t think to take those during COVID.)

Well Blake did give them the option of leaving with him.

A likely story (note sarcasm).

Hi people
Apologies for not being here last and for the radio silence. It was the usual January birthday dinner last week and I'd had a rotten week. This hasn't been any better as I've had to try to make up for the previous one. Plus, I haven't had email for days and am not sure what's happening currently as it's the weekend.

Hopefully some B7 will cheer me up.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Hi Obsidian, So pleased to hear from you. I was actually just texting you to see if you were okay. Sorry to hear you’ve had such a rotten week or two. Hopefully things get better soon and in the meantime hopefully B7 can work it’s magic.

Ok I’m here at my Blu-ray player isn’t. It’s in the bedroom dammit. I wasn’t planning on going to bed this early but needs must!! Excuse me a second while I jump into my jammies.

Hi Tyce
I saw your messages, I just didn't have the energy or whatever to get back to you. Too miserable from things going wrong. I'm still freaked because of the email that needs to be shifted into a cloud attached to my website to make it my own. My head has been a bit exploded, you know the 🤯 emoji.

How are the blu-rays after all that? I still don't have them. Too much money spent on website and nothing left (part of what's freaking me).

That’s ok, no need to apologise. These stupid computer things can be so annoying. Sadly, I know all too well how stupid they are particularly the cloud.

Hi MsVirn. How are things with you? I was listening to Oxford radio a couple of weeks back and they were talking about minus 17ºC somewhere in Scotland. Good going!

Also, if you were naming escapees for the record, wouldn't you use their full names?

"Did you get a blackout?" is not what she'd say. This is what comes of writing dialogue without listening to it. Either that, or Sally couldn't quite remember she was supposed to say "Did you black out? I did."

So this is Artix's first trip to Cygnus Alpha?

The idea of Zen being "organic", as with the Jabberwocky stories, has some appeal for me, the idea that the computer has an organic brain at its core. But, as we learn, given the relationship with ORAC, it can't be. Maybe a good simulacrum for a brain.

If the Liberator is such an advanced ship and the London is so clumsy and out of date how come the London beat them to Cygnus Alpha??

I'm not sure Zen's nature was fixed at this point: the organic bit was useful at the beginning, but after Orac arrived, its likeness to Ensor took that role, so Zen's became less organic, more unknowable System. Something like that, anyway. Perhaps.

Our heroes haven't learned yet how to drive the Liberator. I imagine that sprint through Space took them off course a bit.

Messing about with Zen's capabilities took time. I'm surprised they arrived at all.

Hello. I was actually on time this week - until I spilt hot coffee all over myself and the sofa. Now sitting here with a new coffee, and trying to make it up to the cat for shouting at her to keep clear.
