You'd think a prison transport would have isolation cells. 'Close confinement' isn't particularly secure, and they are still able to talk to each other. Solitary would be more effective.

This talk of Avon'sTeddy reminds me of a SF short story - possibly Azimov? - where the writer talked about someone called 'Sloane' and spent the whole text building up to the line 'Sloane's Teddy wins the race'. Aesop probably turned in his grave.

Both the old Soviet Navy and some units in the Third Reich had a 'political officer' who reported to the regime, not the military. I wonder if the Federation does the same, and if Leylan suspects Raiker might be such a plant. . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |
