Interesting that Avon insists Orac is an 'it', yet he says 'we' when finding out if he can survive without the others.

True. I think the Royal 'we' is acceptable in those circumstances.

Maybe he's including the Liberator as well.

That was what I was thinking as he wouldn't be totally alone but with other vaguely intelligent 'entities'.

Beautiful Ro and Selma. I badly want her outfit. The Fortuny pleats and feathers are fab.

Everybody is so beautiful in this ep. The costumes, the way the actors are framed and lit.

Cally's telepathic powers seem a little different here. She can't usually read people, can she?

I'm liking the grumpy crew in this episode.

Me too. The dialogue in this ep is particularly good.

Allan Prior. The good writers stand out, don't they?

This is his best, though. The others are Hostage (meh), The Keeper (okay, I like that one), Volcano (don't like that one) and Animals... say no more!

I think Animals got stuffed around by cast changes etc. and could have been better. I don't see the script as being majorly at fault. The Keeper I like and the other two aren't so bad, there are just other things that are better. I like this ep. a lot for the subject matter. Gosh, I'd love to meet Chris Boucher.

We (Horizon) interviewed him years ago in his haunted room at a grotty convention hotel, with pigeons on the windowsill interrupting us.

I wonder if he's still good for a visit? (says she, hopefully)

I don't know - he's not done a convention for a very long time. Might be worth asking someone who's in touch with him. Ian Kubiak?

"Ro's" (Darien Angadi's) brother commented on something about this ep. on Making B7 on Twitter. He's very like him.

No, indeed. Another writer bending the rules of her telepathy to suit the plot. But I forgive him - this time!

Ah - I wonder if the Commissar is right. Maybe the information about how Ro's father died is what ORAC found out, and what Cally thought Blake needed to know.

You're right. Ian Kubiak may be the guy to ask.

The number of BF stories that push that particular envelope, so to speak, makes me cringe a bit.

I'd rather they push the telepathy thing than forget it altogether, which so many do.

I like Avon's conversation with ORAC - his doubts about whether he can survive alone.

Oh yes, I agree with you there. Maybe the writers were a little afraid of it, feeling they almost had to make it a dramatis persona of its own, whereas it could have continued to work as a subtle undercurrent throughout.

Is this where the comedy endings start to go really downhill?

Those costumes have to be some of the best and I'd love to know where they ended up so that I can have a peer at them.

Also how he is almost relieved that the three pursuit ships mean he can't go after all. I love that way that he is always a better person than he would like to think he is.

I'm still about 5 minutes from the end - Selma is trying to persuade Ro to do the right thing.

Well, that was a good one. Looking forward to next time - the episode with the Hat.
Hope you all have a good week.

I'd hate to have to write the final lines. Doing that for lectures or academic papers has given me the heebee geebees enough as it is. You want to be witty but don't, just don't do it.

I do very much like this ep. but am always saddened that 'Ro' committed suicide because he is so perfect here. It's almost like a memorial to him.

I have a number of icons saved, but this one is my favourite. I love the downbeat settings in Blake's 7 - the industrial warehouses, power stations, planets where it is always a dreich day in the middle of winter, and I feel that this icon captures that perfectly! Plus, of course, Tarrant.

I've looked up Darien Angadi now. A fascinating family, indeed - but such a sad end. What a waste.
