It's the only water on the whole rock. I always wondered what Kerril could have survived on living there.

As a kid, I wondered if they were communists because they all lived in 'make do' collective and had names like Great Uncle Bulgaria and Tomsk.

Orinoco - Latin America
Bungo - Japan
Wellington - New Zealand
Tobermory - Scotland
Cholet - France
Alderney - Channel Islands

But I would have thought that they would be a big hit in our eco-conscious age. Perhaps they are due a revival?

I'm hoping to travel soon to somewhere not too far away from Tomsk. My mother never swore. Instead she had good cuss phrases, one of which was Omsk, Tomsk and Vladivostok.

Was there anyone else there? Quite a lot of red flags, really.

Oh dear, poor Vila. He ends it the episode on a happy note but is he really. Regret etc....

50m: Vila returns to the Liberator having saved his love from Bayban but deciding not to go to the new world with her.

Vila: I think I've just made the biggest mistake of my life.

But the way he says it you know he doesn't mean it.

Michael Keating is just so likeable!

They had one in the 90s I think? With Barrington(?) Womble and others.

Suns are quite expensive and difficult to fit into a studio. Not to mention the H&S brigade's 'guidelines' are pretty stringent on that kind of thing. Whereas sad ponds and fake greenery are OK, as long as there's a warning sign about no swimming etc.

Apparently a reboot is planned and in 2011 they performed at Glastonbury!!!!

Vila comes up trumps with the crystals.

I've just realised this is paralleled at the end of "Games", but with a negative outcome.

ok well that was "City at the Edge of the World". A pretty fast paced story with some interesting ideas and generally well executed and with a fun turn from future Doctor Who star Colin Baker. It's a great little slice of sci fi and a credit to the show really imo

True. The little bit of Homeworld we get to see looks pretty depressing to me; sort of Northern Exposure without the polar bears.

So Vila defeats the villain, saves a civilization, gets the girl, finds the vital crystals for the Liberator, gets an apology from Tarrant and a compliment from Avon, and he still ends up losing? Typical Vila!

M1795537OCVirn
OK, that's over then. Well done, Michael and Colin. Not sure about the rest. Evidently Avon's having a week off.
Sorry to have messed this one up, folks. Hopefully next week any parcels to us won't be delivered to the (Dutch) holiday people staying next door. Also. I'd better learn Dutch.

Sorry you missed out MsVirn. I thought it might have been a delivery. You've had those delivery folk interfere in proceedings before. You need to train them to come at different times.

They power the main blasters on the Liberator. I think Tarrant says it early on

That's not such a daft idea - I know the English by heart! Hope your Summer School was enjoyable, if hard work.

Spoken, it's not that difficult. Just a bodge of English and German, which is what it is, essentially. On paper it can look a bit weird at times.

But does that go for all the other sorts of crystals that keep turning up? And if crystals are so useful, how come we haven't started powering things with them yet?

Just Liberator main blasters and lightsabers apparently -- they have no other uses!

The horizon looks very close, and everything is craters. It looks like they're on an asteroid rather than a planet.

I'd also expect the crystals to be a lot, lot, smaller. The crystals in the Seskas' collars are understandable, but, given what goes into watches for example, I'd expect our heroes to have a mortar and pestle handy.
