8m: ORAC announces prissily he is steering them into black hole. What's with the 1970s and prissy robots? K-9, C3PO, Orac... |

4m: The Liberator is off course and curving away from its intended path Tarrant leaps instantly to a traction beam? And when people point out there's no such thing he accuses Cally's people of messing with his mind. I mean, you'd think a gravity well would be everyone's first call. Not a massive fan of his space tunic tonight. It's more tunic than space. Just a tunic really. ![]() It's a bit 70s cod-medieval. |

11m: The Liberator falls into the black hole and gravity warps space. I love this warping effect. I believe it's similar to what Doctor Who did with the ice warrior weapons in the 1980s. Point a camera at a reflective material that is being pinched and poked from behind. ![]() |

Hi MsVirn and Tyce. All good with you? You SEND your son a cake, MsVirn? Does he own a cookbook? I'm fairly well but still stuffed over here and hand in splint slowing work. And got jury duty. ![]() Sorry to hear all that. Such a run of bad luck. Obsidian, Can I get you to confirm that you received the text I sent you in the week. I’m assuming you are now back on your original phone number.. |

Query: was Cally grown in one of Auron's gestation units (hence the telepathy) and, if so, at what age would she be decanted and become a 'litle girl on Auron hearing fairy stories'? She does spend more time being possessed/attacked by incorporeal beings than she does using her mental powers to help |

Query: was Cally grown in one of Auron's gestation units (hence the telepathy) and, if so, at what age would she be decanted and become a 'litle girl on Auron hearing fairy stories'? It is never actually said, but I think they would basically be artificial wombs, so the children would be decanted at 9 months, when they would be normal newborn babies. |

The thing about the telepathy is never tied down because 'the ancients' are said to have some of those capabilities, despite the ability being said later to be tied to cloning. So, whatever the particular writer made up. I always thought Cally was early cloning. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

16m: The gang wonder where they are. Avon: An unlikely possibility is that we have fallen through the black hole into the so-called negative universe of antimatter, where time and energy no longer exist. Vila: That sounds like a way of saying we're nowhere. Tarrant: Orac, where the hell are we? Tarrant then proceeds to fire the Liberator's weapons wildly in any direction. Great use of energy, great use of logic, and hopefully there are no kids playing around outside minding their own business |

Is this the only episode we see the Liberator landed? Definitely one of the few episodes we see people outside the Liberator (ie the outside of the Liberator is a set) I think some guards float away from a Liberator airlock in episode 2 or 4. |

She does spend more time being possessed/attacked by incorporeal beings than she does using her mental powers to help I think that's because the (mostly male) writers had no understanding of telepathy, or even sympathy, empathy, 'womens' intuition' or any other mode of communication that they can't see or hear. And yes, it makes me LIVID, because the character could have been so much more. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

I confess I really don’t like ‘Children of Auron’. Not that I have an issue with the episode per se it’s just that I don’t think it has any continuity with Cally‘s character, nor does it explain Cally’s character with any degree of sincerity or do her backstory with any justice. |

I will give this episode credit for bringing the strange. This universe across the black hole threshold is a bit mysterious. Orac is being very non-human. Cally is pleasantly ethereally telepathic. It's a good vibe. |

Scientists have no idea what happens to black holes - some think they will eventually blow up (presumably from the energy overload?) others think they may just evaporate, sort of swallow themelves, as well as everything else. Definitely worth studying. I'm with Orac on that.
