Rewatch Downunder Saturday 29th June B13 Star One
M1795537OCVirn
Starting at 7.30pm Downunder and 10.30am in the UK

B13 Star One
In which we say 'goodbye' to the second series of B7 and to three much-loved characters. I sometimes wonder how many more would have gone if someone (the BBC?) hadn't stepped in to stop the rout. I doubt B7 would have survived any additional losses. And think how different things would be if we'd never learned the truth about Anna, or been introduced to Jarvik and his Spider, or seen the B7 version of 'chicken-in-a-basket'.

We do have to say 'hello' to some new people, though, notably the musical Dayna and later the decorative Tarrant - the one a Federation dropout, the other the type of loner they warn you about - the ones that turn out to be obsessed with guns. However are such unsuitable characters ever going to fit into our little band of loveable misfits? Now read on...

Travis, miffed that Servalan has refused his offer of power-sharing, sets out to get his revenge. He summons up what looks like a flock of flying kitchen utensils intent on dominating the galaxy. Unfortunately for them, they reckoned without the combined forces of Blake and the Federation. It doesn't end well.

Lurena, Durkim, and Sizzles the Andromedan?

M1795537OCVirn
Sizzles deserved it!
Anyone out there?

Joe Dredd
Coo-ee!

Hello M1 OC Virn!

M1795537OCVirn
Mornin' Joe. Or evening, if you insist.
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Joe Dredd
There you are!

Hello!

Joe Dredd
Should we start?

M1795537OCVirn
Well, Obsidian is probably still on her mission in the UK, and who knows where Tyce may have ended up now. dodgyville might drop in, and AnneA is often fashionably late, so I'd say we go ahead and sjnjoy ourselves...

Maybe there's something better on the other channel?

Joe Dredd
Okay, I'm starting.

Same here. Slowest collision ever.

I always like the little bleeps they use as 'over' signals on the radio communications in B7.

M1795537OCVirn
Can't imagine ever reaching a point where anything controlled by AI 'doesn't make errors'!
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

M1795537OCVirn
Don't tell me Servalan has been so busy trying to follow Travis and catch Blake that she hasn't been watching the Federation Newscasts! Durkim has the worst job imaginable, giving Her bad news!

Yes, I wish all the spaceships looked like they moved faster. Only the System pursuit craft have a sense of speed about them.

And they don't do themselves any favours showing the actual collision, two parts touching, no damage, no buckling or parts flying off, etc. It would have been better to disguise it with an explosion.

I think we're meant to fill that bit in for ourselves. Use our imagination and all that.

It can't even get Aftermath right:

Click here this forum software doesn't even let you insert videos, or spoilers

M1795537OCVirn
Be careful what you wish for, Avon. You might just get it.

I agree. That's why, I feel, they should have masked that last moment rather than shown it.

Who was that idiot wearing the wrong frock in your gif?

Shockingly lax, if I may say so!

Sorry I'm late (as usual). Finally got the bulk of the heresy book to the publishers yesterday - only the index to do now, so feeling quite relieved, to put it mildly!

AnneArthur
I like the black and white Federation logo at the end of the Nova Queen footage - presumably a sign of mourning.

Joe Dredd
Heresy!

Welcome Anne.

Joe Dredd
Space Command slowly rotating... cut to Servalan's office with view out the window completely immobile.

Ooh, I just noticed the alarm when Durkim enters is the same alarm that goes off in Trial when Liberator strikes and Travis hurls himself out the door. Nice.

M1795537OCVirn
Glad to her you're nearing the end of the book job, Anne. Well done!

Durkim worries me. Another sidekick fated to reveal the plot...in this case by QUESTIONING HER when she's already slightly irritated.

That was AI, taking a photo and animating it. The problem is, it wants to change everything at every moment, rather than keep it consistent.

M1795537OCVirn
Finally! The COUP!!

Nicely done, though. Makes me wonder who gave you access to Federation files....

I love the set for the Star One complex. The actors can move in and out of connecting rooms and corridors. It feels more real than some of the other locations we see.

M1795537OCVirn
Lurena vs the pizza men - who will win?

Here's a photo of Vila and Bayban the Butcher. I told the AI to make them arm-wrestle...

So the High Council were keeping things (like a possible alien invasion, and millions of credits spent on a defence zone) from Space Command? Naughty. And highly unlikely. Pull the other one.

It is very effective.

It seems very likely to me. What seems unlikely is that Servalan would not suspect that they were doing it, and take steps to find out what they were hiding.
