That console is a bit like the one in the Tardis I thought that, I think they repurposed it I plan to live forever,or die trying.

Prison ship, and the access doors to the ventilation shafts are not locked. No need. Who would want to go out for a stroll? Any prisoner who has watched ST, SW or any other SF series. With regards to the fight sequence...Mr D told us at a convention that the stunt man told him to behave as if he was fighting for his life (or I read it a zine article)

Vila gun dropping is in fact a good action as Vila knows that they cannot beat the crew and this way they will at least make it out alive.
