Rewatch Downunder Saturday 23rd December D13 Blake
M1795537OCVirn
Start time 8.30 pm Downunder, 09.30am (GMT) UK

The mass rewatch of BLAKE is on Thursday 21st at 7.34pm (GMT), but since that start time would make it 05.45am Downunder, they have decided to rewatch it at their usual time on Saturday, although they're not sure how many will be available to join in.

Blake...the bleakest possible conclusion, unless it was all a dream...or the guns were set on stun, or they were all clones...or...look, Servalan wasn't even there - although she would appreciate the irony of a storyline like this at Christmas.
Surely this can't be the end??
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Since the start, this, or something like it, was the inevitable end.

I'm going to wait 'til the usual time to see if anyone joins me. Then I'm watching it myself. Oh come, all ye faithful, Here in Australia...

Hi MsVirn. Did you do the last rewatch at all? How are things going at your place? I'm at the end of my very frayed tether but expect I'll get there.

Yes.

Hi AnneA. Glad you could join us. I was beginning to think I'd be droning on by myself for 55 mins.

Since last week I made the stupid mistake of walking into town for some Christmas shopping - and that has absolutely knocked me for six. No energy at all - and a horrible black depression, which is worse than everything, and which is extremely hard to hold off. Hoping that this rewatch does the trick!

Obsidian
I love the take-off sequence.

The contempt in Avon's voice when speaking of Blake is quite something.

It's damp and far too warm, trying to cook and look after guest and everything else. Have never yet rewatched the whole thing - 1981 was too traumatic - so probably will stop watching at some point and just chat with you.

I'm sorry to hear that, Anne. This may not be the best episode for that...

Hello everyone!

Is that last line a seasonal reference to 'It's a Wonderful Life'? I don't really see this lot as angels - Avon sent to earth to stop me committing suicide would be something to behold!

AnneArthur
I suppose I should say in the light of that last comment that I am not actually feeling suicidal. Grin

That doesn't sound good AnneA, but I know what you mean. I've had a couple of days of terrible depression and I'm being treated for depression and have been for decades (not successfully until the last few years, you understand)! Told my shrink and she understood completely. It's going around. I do hope this helps. Watching B7, even when unsettling makes me feel good.

That's interesting M1, I'm also sorry to hear that - though it sounds like it was more the year than the episode?

Although if Avon feels like dropping in to show me how my life has made the world a better place, I wouldn't say no . . .

Mostly I'm just furious that Servalan never showed up. I know she was out of contract, but really...

All that, plus post-Covid exhaustion adding emphasis to all the above.

Imagine if the movie was about Avon instead of George Bailey. "If it wasn't for you, the Andromedans would have conquered the galaxy... Servalan would have the tachyon funnel... there wouldn't be planets full of babies from Cephlon and Auron..." etc.

Ha! There's a fanfic right there. I might just write it.

Hi Obsidian, good to see you too. I hope this episode & chat also cheers you up.

Great British Blake Off - "Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run."

"The pattern of infinity" - great line.

Avon is NOT a psychopath, though he probably feels like one. He's got a bad case of the hump too.

They've all got serious battle fatigue, him and Vila most of all. Blake has it as well.

I managed to see "Julius Caesar" (1970, Gielgud, Charlton Heston) earlier in the week. Michael Keating is in it, looking much like he's just stepped out of The Sunmakers (though that's, what, four years later?). Master S Pacey is in it too, as a young chubby(ish) cheeked lad (Lucius).

One day I will finish my story about it. January is beginning to look full. I thought of trying to finish it for the Advent Calendar but there was no way. Instead you got a silly PD pic. It's terrible when you're ready to finish something but other things are nagging.
