Rewatch Downunder Saturday 14th October D3 Traitor
M1795537OCVirn
Downunder have already moved into their Summer Time, so they start at 8.30pm, while in the UK we're trying to pretend it's still summer, so our starting time remains at 10.30am (BST).

D3 Traitor
(And we don't need any jokes on the lines of 'last one out turn off the Leitz'. Looking at you, Joe.)

In this episode, we see what happens when the rebels try to be clever. Result: failure. And didn't one of the Dalek films have people breaking into the city by swimming under the security barriers or something? Anyway, the new pacification drug is doing its job, and Tarrant is (for once) not the one who makes a mess of things.
Meanwhile, Servalan takes on new responsibilities, while her wardrobe turns to the dark side.
Enjoy!

There are mince pies in the shops so I think it's okay to wheel out this festive take on "Traitor". Click on the picture to see a larger version:

Silly question. Of course we didn't.

Hey! Obsidian, how are you? Survived the Vote? What was it all about, and what does the result mean? Let's have some realpolitik...

Survived, yes. What it means is nothing like what the adverts either for or against say it means.

Yay! So much easier. Will say (quietly) that the external drive thingy has been the best-behaved bit of my hardware until I got my new pooter.

Sounds like Avon had some previous knowledge of Helotrix.

Just gearing up to finish two big orders. Massive amounts of cleaning, plating, coating metal, THEN making. Eek, eek, eek!

I always find it fascinating that these people who were essentially Earth dome bred and Earth raised had such a knowledge of space. Hardly high school geography.

Hello everyone. Late as usual, I'm afraid. I've been doing some supply teaching for the last couple of days, so rather slept in this morning.

Wazis sound like fun.

I love these two tucking into their repast. Wonder where they grow the asparagus on Helotrix?

Asparagus? They nicked it from Servalan's supplies. She has it shipped in from her estate on Earth. At Federation expense.

Perhaps it was? I can imagine propaganda films - 'our glorious colonies', 'Earth's far dominions', sort of thing.

But I love the weird landscape of Helotrix - all mud and pools of water.

Supply teaching what?

I think this is the only time we see someone smoking in Blake's 7. I have always imagined it as a studied eccentricity on the part of the General.

So the talk about engines sets us up for the next episode. Orac's probably following Dr Plaxton's experiments as we speak.

French and Spanish - although it's not that relevant. The pupils had worksheets to do, and I just had to supervise them. The second day I did go through some of the worksheets with them, which worked well. Poor kids - the work is very boring, and they are therefore very bored.

Given the range of things (Tarzian Warg Stranglers) about which the various crew have knowledge, I doubt geography or even undergraduate astronomy or anthropology could cover it all. A smarty pants like Avon would probably have wide general knowledge and probably Blake too. Jenna would have an idea of other worlds; but, in all, the breadth of knowledge suggests serious Orac swotting.

Great to have you with us, AA. And good news about the work. No wonder you're tired!

Smoking may be a perk of office, but have eyepatches become fashionable for Feds?

I love that they've tried to recreate the Liberator's seating area on Scorpio with those recliner things.

Rather daring, perhaps - given the associations?

Tarrant's clothes don't half show up in the half-light. It's like the girls wearing shoes with loud heels. Thoughtless and dangerous.

The primary school today (for voting) had a big neon screen saying "Slushies on Fridays" with a pic of disgusting coloured ice thingies. We commented on how kid ought not to be given those but instead should be allowed to go and make some slushies with puddles and mud in the playground. Helotrix would be such fun for kids!

I was thinking more that you have proved that you are hard enough, so can do things normally considered effete without it reflecting on your manliness.

The poor kids at the school I was teaching in had only a half-hour for lunch - no time to run around. A very short school day, but 5 one-hour classes. I'm sure that mine were only 45 minutes when I was at school.
