Somehow I can't imagine Avon making such a fuss. He'd just slump down in a heap, grinning.

I was just thinking what a shame it was that young Geoffrey died of the '80s disease. He is rather good.

Ah, but Avon does get Soolin who's as tough as nuts. He would definitely have provided some snappy repartee. Whether or not Chris Boucher could keep it up, though.

I find it rather interesting that Dorian says that the first person to die was his partner. And then the partner who appears as dead is virtually half naked. All this clearly alludes to a gay relationship as opposed to a business relationship. Considering this was done in 1981 that’s very forwardthinking.

I suspect both a gay and a business relationship - partner in all senses. But surely Dorian would be pretty much pansexual? Appetites, and all that.

But I agree, it is very forward-thinking for the time.

The background/build up to the whole idea is good. The actual killing games are predictable and not much fun. Snow (Donald Southerland) is a great villain.

Yes. But I do find a difference between books I loved as a child, and children's books I have enjoyed as an adult - with even the best of them, there are moments that I see clearly that I have outgrown, and I envy the child readers who haven't. And if I came new to Blake's 7 now, I know that there would be places where I would say 'well, well, well' and pass over them rather quickly. The giant brain in Ultraworld, for example. But the Federation (and especially Servalan) the understated and developing relationships between the crew of Liberator/Scorpio, the witty dialogue, that amazing ending - those would still appeal, I think.

Well, I suppose it's time to take up my lonely vigil again and go and feed the hens. Forgot to mention the thousands of bees also in my care, but they're mostly getting ready to hibernate for the winter. The girls chuck the male bees out - they're no use to anyone and not worth wasting food supplies on over the next few months. They make new males next year, when they need them.
Hope you have a great week, everyone. See you next time.

Well, a new start. But next week we are back on old territory, with a 'back to basics' group of settlers, and some very eighties sexual politics.

Thanks for the rewatch, everyone!

Why do I feel that this would appeal to Servalan?
