The funny thing is that the "rebel" Anna seems much more like the sort of person Avon might love than the stiff drinking wine in bed.

Not too much like Blake?

Don't remember seeing Blake drinking anything in bed with Avon.

You've obviously not read many fanfics . . .

Grin

Even then, Blake is not drinking much wine.

Are you saying that you’ve seen them in bed together, just not in bed together drinking? LOL

Tarrant expecting Servalan to behave like a normal human being and be 'affected' by being beaten up a bit. Little does he know.
Avon, on the other hand, expects her to be herself.

Love Servalan's dress. Too bad it's torn.

I hope she’s got some pretty serious, double sided tape.

I think drinking together is slightly more believable than them doing anything else in bed together. (See my August ficlet!).

Hmmm. Trying to spot the brand of booties Anna is wearing. They are very cute.

Meantime, I'm glad the owners of Cornbury felt secure letting the Beeb run around waving weapons at the fine china.

That is such a good episode. I'm going to have to dash - I have a lot of shoving things into piles in corners and frantic hoovering to do . . .

Love the way Servalan feels the kick from her gun firing. She's SO good at details.

Such good acting in this ep too. The way the ep was lit so that some eyes were sparkling, flat, deep, luminous etc. Very nicely done.

Right - I'm off to print out that floor plan. Thanks for a great rewatch. Hope this week is a good one for you all. B7 people are the BEST.

Hello everyone! I'm just passing as I need to go make some dinner before it gets too late. I was hoping to watch this one with you, but it hasn't panned out. I hope you are all well. RL, as everyone has said already.

I really love the 'big' fight scene in this. Like the one at the start of 'Countdown', I like the fast-paced action, though I do hate those trooper helmets that are missing the circular perspex guard that usually rings their helmets. I suppose it helps us tell the difference between the two sides.

One thing about Residence One, it's a trip outside the domes. The Atomic Wars aren't mentioned in the show, but the blurby stuff about B7 said they were the reason mankind 'retreated' to the domed cities. We know from The Way Back that leaving the domes is an offence, but also that the air and water supplies are drugged. My own personal feeling is that the Atomic Wars were a myth, or perhaps not as severe as described, but provided a useful excuse for keeping everyone locked up inside. Very hard to drug the entire atmosphere of the Earth; much easier if everyone is kept indoors. Servalan of course knows the truth and has a palace built externally. I'm somewhat reminded of something Guy Debord's mob wrote in a Situationist article, "The Geopolitics of Hibernation", about using the idea of a supposed threat as a way to control the population.

It seems a slightly fanciful idea, as anyone who went outside the domes would know the truth, plus any spacecraft approaching or taking off would presumably detect on their instruments that the outside environment was okay. I can partly get around that by assuming there's some strict 'no scanning' rule imposed, perhaps under the pretext of preventing military bases etc being revealed, but also by 'Moloch' which tells us (rather ludicrously, I feel) that the T-16 transport Vila and Tarrant teleport over to has no scanning devices. I hope they never go anywhere near meteorites... (or comets.. or asteroids.. or space junk... or other ships... or satellites...!)

Anyway, I must go and marinate some chicken.

When you get to the end, with the wall (Wallsend?), just pretend I asked "Was he fooled by love or was she loved by a fool?" Avon is not a fool, but I do like the symmetry of it.

I know someone made up a cocktail recipe book years ago but I've not come across it yet. That's why I made up the Pink Asteroid cocktail. I'm still on the look-out if anyone knows of anyone who has it.

Meantime, saw Brian Croucher's IG posts of him on the plane off to the US for the Dr Who thing over there. It would have been so much fun. Hope we poor deprived Aussies get something happening here soon.

I heard an interview only yesterday with ... David Maloney, I think... who said there was a shooting party being held there on the same day, and they all arrived at the same time. "All those shooting clay pigeons stand over here; all those shooting B7 stand over there."

Thanks for the floorplan and pictures, Obsidian. Excellent stuff!

Avon is not a fool. Just misguided. Always love to get your input Joe. You're absolutely right about the Domes etc. I think that's made clear right at the start, in The Way Back, that the water is fresh outside so things can't have been as bad as the proles think or are led to believe. It keeps them in line as much as does the drugging and the drugging is possible to control if everyone is contained. Meanwhile, those at the top enjoy the luxury of real sunshine etc.

Nice to hear from you, Joe. I think the Atomic Wars were real and frightened people into the Domes, and since this made it so much easier to control the masses, later the Feds didn't bother telling anyone that the fallout had cleared.

Also, living outside the Domes probably involved paying huge amounts for the privilege - hence only a few Alphas have tried. Clearly, Servalan was an early adopter, using Fed funds for her pet project.
