Avon's laugh is still quite sane at this point - much less manic than it will be.

Wow! I'd be stressing until they were returned and proven to be still working.

I so want Selma's outfit, feathers and all.

Agreed the outfit is awesome. I don’t think I could deal with the bare feet though.

It is lovely. I also like Jenna's outfit before it got dirty!

Costumes must have hated this episode - getting Blake and Jenna all dirty. Bet we don't see those paricular costumes again for a while, if ever.

Avon stays nice and clean . . . Grin

I was famously clean when digging. Something to do with attitude? Or is it Teflon?

Some people are annoyingly clean. It's not a skill, it's just a natural law. My (older) sister went down a coal mine in a white skirt and came out spotless. If I tried that, I'd a) not wear white in the first place and b ) come out covered in dust.

Jenna’s nice white outfit is grubby. :-(

Doesn't Ro look the cat's pyjama's in all the get-up? So gorgeous. Such a shame that Darian Angadi committed suicide. He was a good-looking young man.

Avon is the only one that teleports down and avoids getting captured. How is he so much smarter than the others? It's almost like they have to dumb the others actions down to make him the best...

They don't die. They are plucked, sometimes to stop them flying. Not an issue if you're an ostrich.

Isn't it more likely that the others are dim anyway? Letting Blake lead being their first mistake...

He probably kept it back in case he needed to use it. Avon's sense of self preservation overrides everything normally.

The only thing Blake ever did wrong was to be brave enough to try and destroy an evil dictatorship. I’ve never understood why people pick on someone who tries to do the right thing.

You'd need a lot of birds and a lot of moulting... ever tried plucking a live bird??? Can't be done. Not without causing a lot of pain and distress. The feathers that fall out are the faulty ones anyway, and they get trodden on and manked up unless you're there at the time.

Nope. it's just as bad as using fur.

Another very enjoyable rewatch - this is a run of very strong episodes. See you all next week for Killer, which I still really don't like.

Also, at the end of the episode it is Blake who is the clever one, realising that the pursuit ships would be unlikely to have any information about Horizon's defences. Not all the good ideas are Avon's.

See you Anne. You can tell us why then (a couple of slips of logic in it but still a strong tale with a fine guest cast).

Have a good week and let the students be adults, if they can.

Isn't it Pressure Point next week? Killer is a few weeks away yet, Anne. Much more cheerful to watch Travis clobbering a little girl (even though the actress is about 20, she's supposed to be a child). And, of course, the HAT.

Yes, they are adults. I have to remind myself of this. This lot do seem a bit lost - they've had their undergraduate years screwed up with Covid, and they are now having to contend with strikes. As with so much else with Covid, it seems to take a year or two for the negative consequences to feed through.

Is it Pressure Point? Good! I think I must be subconsciously wanting to get Killer out of the way.

OK, so Blake has his moments, but they are few and far between. He's had a lot of trauma, brainwashing, re-educating and the like. I don't think he's in a fit state to lead anything. He's just trying to hit back, and can't really imagine anything beyond that.

So who would lead? Avon is a natural contrarian - his strength is in finding the weak spots in someone else's plan, not in coming up with one of his own. Jenna, perhaps, or Cally? A shame that they made them content with a submissive feminine role.
