Rewatch Downunder - A2 Space Fall - Saturday 7th January
Travisina
9.30am (UK) / 8.30pm (Australia)

All aboard the Prison Ship London! In which we meet some interesting new characters, and the prisoners plan a mutiny. Will they succeed? Do we know who will be chosen to become Blake's 7?
There is no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes

Wah! I'm going to have to miss this one owing to the same birthday celebration that disrupts my rewatches every January.

Must therefore do my own rewatch this evening in order to see that shady-looking guy with the piece of paper (paper!) wipe his hand across his face in an especially slippery way. That gesture gets me every time. Total lerve. Pathetic, yes, but good.

Have fun everyone and Happy New Year!
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Stupid 53 Saturdays year. One Saturday more than episodes…… I’ll do a solo catch up rewatch when I have a chance. See you in 1 hour 45 minutes. :-)

Hi, Tyce.
Maybe we should use the extra Saturday for an extra rewatch of our choice? Or perhaps it means we'll be OK even if we miss one for, say TyceconII?

Oh gosh. I’m gonna have to start thinking about Tycecon. Life is so busy it seems to keep slipping off the radar.

Tyce
Is it just you and I Virn? Shall we start five minutes late?

M1795537OCVirn
Looks like it. Travisina asked me to give her apologies - she's out doing good deeds again.

Ok. 30 seconds to go.

M1795537OCVirn
Rats. My media player is playing up. Go ahead, I'll catch up as and when. I can remember most of it anyway!

Alex and the Captain are the perfect pair. The young enthusiastic Alex and what could be Alex 40 years on as the Captain who is now jaded.

Oh that’s not good.

M1795537OCVirn
That crew is a good mix of characters - the good, the bad and the other one.

Hi, sorry I'm late. Just slept in - dreich, wet and miserable here.

Tyce
Jenna is the only woman on he ship and yet Reiker doesn’t know her name.

That's a very good point. The interaction between the crew is the first example of what Blakes 7 does very well - show us Federation officials as human beings.

It's amazing to think that Britain had so much influence on Terran affairs in the Third Calendar. The ship is even named after the old capital.

And the guards we saw at the end of the last episode seem miraculously to have been replaced mid-voyage . . .

Hi AnneArthur. Glad to have you on board.

I suppose it's a counterbalance to everything being American . . .

It's his idea of small talk. I'd love to know what she said to him.

Hi Anne. Same weather here. It's been raining forever, I think. And doesn't look like getting any better for the next week according to the forecast.

Yes it makes a refreshing change.

I put my mini Christmas trees out yesterday. I think I'll bring them in again - they apparently don't like being waterlogged.

Me too. There was a whole discussion thread about that at one point.

“You’re a civilised man Avon, on Cygnus Alpha that will not be a survival characteristic.“ Love it.

Maybe you should consider joining the next non-B7 rewatch - of HYPERDRIVE, where Nick Frost (as Captain) is 'furthering Britain's interests in the wider Galaxy' by trying to market the Peterborough Enterprise Zone to the Lallakiss.

Poor old Peterborough - apparently the worst place to live in Britain again this year! But i haven't seen Hyperdrive - when was that?

The London's crew uniforms are a bit boring, though.

If it goes solid in seconds, Jenna, perhaps you should wipe it off your hands before it solidifies.

Tyce
You realise if Vila had said “yes I’ll go” we wouldn’t have had Vila for the entire rest of Blake’s 7. What a different show it would have been.

LOL Nup, too late. The seconds are up.

And we would have had Nova - very odd.

They’re the same as most of the prisoners, just a different colour. The BBC could obviously only afford 1 dress pattern. LOL

AnneArthur
One and a half episodes in, and we have killed off one prospective rebel already. Blakes 7 setting out its stall.

And Nova spelt backwards is Avon. So that would be doubly odd.

Anne - Hyperdrive was BBC comedy SF around 2008 I think. Brilliant stuff. With Miranda Hart as well. I've been banging on about it for ages and TT has finally agreed we can have it as a rewatch! YAY! Starting soon!

And he is the anti-Avon - naive, idealistic, good natured. Avon would have made his life hell.

Didn't someone write a ficlet about it a while back?
