So we're back to Avon proving he's stronger than a woman, stronger than pain... Sarcophagus, anyone?

And the kiss - as in Sarcophagus. He enjoys this rather too much, I think.

There used to be badges saying "Beware Avon's Kiss"

Me too. He's rather lovely - likes sewing and indoor games, and he and Nina love each other. All the fighting stuff is just bluster.

There are many rubbish aspects to this ep - this being one of them. War of the Sexes, indeed. Says more about Ben Steed than anything else. "You were a great Seska" "Now I'm a woman" - like you can't be both?

So very true. They're implying you can either be strong OR a woman, so misogynistic!

It does seem to suggest that a woman needs a man. Difficult to know how these societies function. If the Hommiks expose girl babies, let the Seska bring them up and then capture them, that seems an awful waste of effort.

Men do have more upper body strength, but women have greater stamina!

'Me too' (pardon the 'Me too' movement pun). It's why I've never liked this episode.

Exactly. And throughout time there have always been strong women and weaker men, and nothing wrong with that.

I enjoy bits of it, but its overall theme is so misogynistic it's hard to forgive.

For sure. And Jenna, Cally, Dayna and Soolin as well as several guest characters. B7 was groundbreaking for its time by having strong female characters. I just wish they hadn't hired Ben Steed to write 3 questionable episodes.

Why didnt they just get Orac to instruct Slave to not launch Scorpio?

Silly question - that would have been logical, so obviously not something they'd think of.

It would make for a less dramatic ending? Plus, Avon wouldn't get to kill a woman. He's really rather unpleasant in this one.

Soolin gets the last line, Avon gets the last look.
I once wrote a ficlet of the scene between Vila and Soolin before he calls for teleport...

I'd like to finish by saying 'Great episode, great company' but I'll just say 'Great company'. See you next week. (I was supposed to be away next week but we've got record floods here and the event I was going was cancelled because it's under water.....)

Travisina
That was fun - dodgy ep, but great company!

Have a good rest of the weekend, everyone Smile

OK, at least that's over with for another year. Moving on....TRAITOR! Servalan's back! Hope to see you all again next time. Thanks for the company, everyone.

I like Gunn Sar and Nina, but there is too much that is misogynistic in this episode. Not one of the better ones. But nice to see everybody. Hopefully by next week I will be testing negative, and have a working fridge again!
