Rewatch Downunder Saturday 10th Ogtober D2 Power
M1795537OCVirn
Start times: NOTE Aussies start at 8.30pm because it's 'summer' down there.
UK start time stays at 10.30am for a few weeks, putting off the return of the long cold.

D2 Power
This one is all about the POWER to move things without touching them. Not by shouting at them, although that often does work, especially with people. As does pointing a gun at them, Tarrant's favoured method. Tarrant being the replacement curly-haired one, POWER is also about a replacement blonde, since all space adventures are required to have one. They tend to need rescuing a lot, and neither their hair nor their make-up ever get messed up.
POWER also marks a return to a certain quarry. where a tribe of primitives living in tents seem to have taken over. (Probably the Goths from Goth, who have recently realised that tents are primarily used above ground, not under it).

Not summer here yet, though the plants are confused.

MsVirn, I thought you might like first roundtable discussion topic from the ORAC 90 Convention:

Well done, Obsidian, keeping things going. Sorry I'm late - too long nattering to Mr Virn. He's trying to decide something. Anyway, I'm here now.

Hello everyone - sorry I'm late. I'm about 10 minutes in, but was distracted by other things. Is everyone OK?

Where are you up to? I like the way we get some 'background' atmosphere of their continual arguing . You don't get that in any of the other SF Tv series.

Did you note the Program at the top, MsVirn? A good discussion topic. Possibly even a fanfic topic.

OK, some interesting topics there. Wish we could have a Horizon con like the ones in the olden days, with panel discussions and suchlike.

That all sounds like great fun, although the fanfic sounds quite old-fashioned - does hurt/comfort even exist anymore?

I am ignoring the provocation of their assumption that people don't like Tarrant. I will only point out that without Jenna, they needed someone to fly the Liberator.

I agree. I love being able to see the convention footage of old on the blu-rays. Well done Diane and the two Judiths!

Getting over the freshers' flu - not too bad, thankfully, and I was able to teach yesterday. It is not good to start the year one class behind!

I have a secret hope that we could have a proper Horizon con for the 50th anniversary.

It seems more to be about model-making and the new blu-rays these days (she says on the basis of having attended a grand total of one conference). Much less interesting.

Her accent is annoying. Is it the actor's own?

Hurt/comfort doesn't exist because it's all boys running around shooting weapons these days.

Actually, it would seem they didn't really need Tarrant if Avon was contemplating, back as early as Horizon, zooming around the galaxy with Orac as his sole companion. Even Blake leapt in to grab the controls from Jenna at one stage.

Such a pity, really. It feels like the organisers are more interested in making money than getting fans together to celebrate anything. But to some extent it will depend on the interests of the organisers as well, so if they're into models or whatever, that's the easiest to set up.

You get something of it in Firefly, but not on this scale. In Star Trek/Babylon 5/Space 1999 they are professionals, so work together on that basis.

The Hommicks running the conferences need to take more note of Gunn Sar and his stitchery.
