Thursday 16th April 7.45pm I, Clavdivs ep:Waiting in the Wings
OneSparePart
Well, I had a look at the next Internet Archive episode of I, Clavdivs and it did exactly the same thing at the halfway point as it did last week. Hopefully, fiasco no 2 can be avoided by watching this week's episode via daily motion. That's if the link works. Grin

Well, it worked on the nth time of trying. I can't make any promises about adverts though....

I've got it on dvd...

There's another one of those leap forwards in the storyline but we'll soon settle into the goings on. Or at least, I will. With me having the dvd.

Any shenanigans in this week's episode will be met by me putting my fingers in my ears and singing Sha la la la lee. I've always liked the Small Faces. And Kenny Lynch.

DVD incoming. It's all too beautiful.

The Daily Motion link looks weird. It's zoomed in on the middle of the screen. It chops off the top of heads in some shots. Ordering the DVD would make sense.

PS I'm going to do that myself, even if I can't watch on Thursday nights. Intrigued - since never watches this!

TT you won't regret it. It's splendid stuff. And since Graves used almost contemporary sources when he wrote the books, the story is as close to what happened as you could hope for - poetic licence allowed for dramatic purposes.

Oh, dear. If OSP gets her links right, she'll take all the fun out of not knowing what's going on! I think each of us watching (and commenting on) a random episode would be more the style we're used to.

Odivs Stokivs Plonker it is. And I'm disappointed in you, CB. as a 'historian' surely you know it should be M I VII IX V V III VII, Domina.

We've got multiple issues to resolve. Are you preferring odious to odd? Harsh. We should also use feminine forms (e.g. Oddia Stokia Plonka) but doesn't sound as funny. And there's the problem of bringing Bill Oddie to mind. And you can't have spaces in your username - makes it look like it starts with mivii, presumably a type of Roman lolly.

Unpick that lot, M'ivii. We're getting into a right II and VIII.

Edit: Domina's out of the question. We'll have none of your Domina tricks, thank you very much indeed.

Weather forecast for Augustan Rome. No son. Prolonged reign. Lot of “hail!” about. Increasingly Cloudy-us.

I'm afraid I won't be with you tonight, as I'm going to see Hamlet at York Theatre Royal.

But I think this may be the first of the two episodes that some enterprising Classics teacher at my school taped, that were shown to the class during those end of term lessons when half the class were in the choir/in the school play/playing sports, so that it wasn't worth while teaching the others. I have seen them so many times that I'm pretty much word perfect!

Hoping my DVD isn't an old Roman one and thus actually a DUD.

Ok. Here's hoping for no disasters tonight despite CB finding it "tatty hilarious" as Ken Dodd used to say.

Music’s not Roman enough. Should be on the water organ, and in Lydian mode. Not that I really know what that means.

It all depends what they were doing to him in there.
