 UK Rewatch - B12 The Keeper (Tuesday, June 24th)

The episode: Barney Twelve – The Keeper (Carry On Space Camping) The date: Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which someone actually notices that Jenna is a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, it’s the head of the local Rent-A-Tribe from the tents of Goth (I assume the caravans of Goth would have cost too much). Meanwhile, the search for Star One continues, Vila gets to play the fool, the S-shaped tree appears (which is still there and still instantly recognisable), and Avon and Cally have a major lovers tiff. Episode in a word: Intense (since In Tents would be two words). Characters to cheer: Gola* is rather wonderful, with Bruce Purchase ideal casting for this somewhat larger-than-life role. And, for once, Travis is one step ahead of Servie, rather than the other way around. Character to boo: Cally, for stopping Avon from shooting down Servalan’s ship, which happened to contain Travis. That would have saved a whole load of hassle in the next episode. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Not long before this, Bruce Purchase (Gola) was the Pirate Captain in the Doctor Who serial “The Pirate Planet”. He even had a Robot Space Parrot. I kid you not. Best line: “I may not kill you after all. A lifetime with Gola would be very educational for you.” Just beats: “Don't leave me here, at least leave me a torch. I don't like the dark. I like to see what I'm scared of.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Pizza Monsters * Other brands of space trainers are available. Vote Og.

From The Electronic Journal of Roj Bear (Avon’s Teddy, if you’re new to these) I saw Vila packing a case with things that look like proddy tools and snuck a peek to make sure he wasn’t nicking any of The Boss’ stuff, but these were only lockpicks, not computer proddies. Alas, while I was investigating, the lid snapped shut and here I am, going on an adventure without The Boss. We get captured by a bunch of Viking cosplayers, led by Gola. Say what you want about the shouty leader of the Goths, but he is the first entity other than myself in twenty five adventures to notice that Jenna is cuddly. I manage to get out of the case and sneak about. When one of the Goth’s finds me, they think I am Gola’s, and take me back to him, but he pays me no nevermind, so I have the run of the tents. Oh, and one of these tents has a dungeon… TT please explain later. Travis and Servalan are here, but no worries. Since Gola wants to cuddle with Jenna, she has the run of the tents and a couple of big burlies making sure she stays safe. Gola is quite nice to Cuddly Jenna. He takes her dancing, gives her Jewelry, and lets her touch his thong (the one hanging around his neck, that is). (If only Blake were here to take notes, he might get a cuddle from Jenna.) Apparently it is forbidden to touch the person of the Charl, so I don’t think ‘pair bonding’ means what I think it means. Vila out fools the Charl’s fool. Gola has a big fight with his brother. Their sister poisons the winner and becomes Charless, I guess. Oh, and the Fool (Theirs, not ours, sorry, Vila) knows where Star One is. If only we could have asked him fifty minutes ago… TTFN, Roj Bear. PS. Apparently while I was away, The Boss and Cally had a big row. This is what happens when I am not around to keep The Boss calm. . .  Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Strangely enough, Freda (Gola's sister) was in Maigret last Saturday evening along with Aubrey Morris as a slightly drunk, high as a kite drug abuser. They were both excellent!!

Hello all. Fun to visit the tents of Goth today. I'm still not sure they can be called tents if they're underground. Also, why live underground when the sulphur etc contamination will be greater down there? "You're not sulking, I hope?"
