 UK Rewatch - A7 Mission To Destiny (Tuesday, February 18th)

The episode: Albert Seven – Mission To Destiny (Carry On Space Poirot) The date: Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which Avon and Cally find out whodunit, and Stuart Fell lives up to his name (PS if anyone wants to find out how the murderer got Stuart Fell onto the top of the cupboard, I’ll explain later). Meanwhile, Blake goes on a trip that takes four days one way and five minutes to return. Maybe Jenna is the same as Holly and doesn’t know how to navigate the ship and is going around in big circles (obligatory Red Dwarf reference). Episode in a word: 54124. Character to cheer: Space Poirot, of course. Although he’s the one who misreads it in the first place as 5-4-1-2-4 when it blatantly says S-A-R-A. And he also reveals the murderer with his back turned to her, so that she can pull a gun. So, Space Poirot, 9/10 for style, but 1/10 for execution. Character to boo: Blake - for being judge, jury and executioner in the final scene. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Brian Hopwood (Rafford) was nice Mr Hopwood in Grange Hill. He also played a nasty murderer in Coronation Street. He only lasts one scene in this episode, before writing S-A-R-A using his own blood as he dies. Who would do that? Someone who badly needed a pen (additional Red Dwarf reference). Best exchange: It’s gotta be: CALLY: “My people have a saying, a man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.” AVON: “Life expectancy must be fairly short among your people.” Blake's 7 will return in... Carry On Throwing Nuts. Vote Og.

I realise that there is always great confusion about which episode we are going to watch, when it comes to Mission To Destiny, because there are several other episodes with very similar names. To clarify, we are not watching any of the following B7 episodes: Mission To Dentistry: Blake develops really bad toothache and is in an even worse mood than usual. But a trip to the dentist can cause problems… especially when the dentist is a big fan of Travis. Mission To Dysentery: Fending off ten Federation Pursuit ships simultaneously is never easy. But it’s even more difficult when the crew have diarrhoea, thanks to Cally undercooking her Auron Veggie Chilli Burgers. Missionary Position on Destiny: A Season C story. The Ultra recapture Dayna and Tarrant, and want yet more information on the human bonding ceremony (this story is banned in many countries due to its explicit content). Mission To Dynasty: Servalan and Alexis Colby both have problems with blokes called Blake… so they decide to pool their resources and also their shoulder pads. Mission To Destiny Of The Daleks: A Blake’s 7 / Doctor Who crossover episode, starring Gareth Thomas as Blake, Paul Darrow as Avon, Tom Baker as the Doctor, David Gooderson as Davros and Tom Chadbon as the naked, bound prisoner (steady Paula!). We are NOT watching any of the above five episodes, which all have to wait for another time. However, we are watching: Mission To Destiny: Avon and Cally solve a murder mystery on the Ortega, Blake goes off on a wild goose chase and then takes 5 minutes to do a journey which took 100 hours going the other way, and Travis does… well, nothing because he’s not in this episode.  A mystery. I love a mystery. No, that's not right I love solving a mystery, I'm just not very good at it. Fortunately, The Boss is. Blake, Cally, The Boss (and I in his pocket, of course), teleported over to a drifting spaceship. Someone had spiked the atmosphere with Sona Vapor. Cally succumbed, Blake almost succumbed. Since I don't breathe, I didn't succumb. Neither did The Boss, in part due to his superior physiology, and in part due to the fact that every time he started to drift off, I bit him. Someone sabotaged the ship to steal a neutrotope. I bet they are all in on it... no, wait, that's Murder On The Orient Express. They're not a very likeable bunch, except for that Pasco. I recognize his talents. He used to do the voices for robot dogs on Titan Base. So, Blake left with Jenna, Gan, and Vila, to take the neutrotope to Destiny, while The Boss (and I) and Cally stay behind to fix up the ship. But the murders continue. Poor Stuart Fell, I mean, Poor Stuart, fell. Of course, The Boss, solved the mystery in due course. The killer turned out to be the short blonde lady. I should have known. The Boss has a bad history with short blondes. He doesn't necessarily know this, but I don't sleep. Anna whatshername forgot that. Well, let's hear no more about her. Yes, The Boss solved the mystery and revealed who the real killer was. Unfortunately, he was so wrapped up in his presentation, he neglected to take into account that he HAD HIS BACK TO THE KILLER WHILE REVEALING HER TO THE REST OF THE CREW. Some days are better than others, but it all turned out all right in the end. And Blake blew up the bad guys with a bomb on the hatch, giving them no warning and no chance.... Sounds more like something The Boss would do. I wonder if The Boss is beginning to rub off on Blake. TTFN, Roj Bear . .  Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

This is one of my favourite episodes because; I love mysteries I love whodunits I love Sci-Fi And it Blake's 7 Yes couple of points, where did Sara produce that gun? Why Avon (MR self preservation) not stand behind Sara with a gun instead having his back to her. The dead body on the cabine (super strength). Sara voted to let Blake take item ,yes I know it Ties into next point, but,,,,,! Big one for me,,,,,,,,, Captain has code and molecular key, says to Sara go and get it! But still top 5 episode for me So I can overlook these foibles. OVZ I plan to live forever,or die trying.

It was this episode last year when OSP suggested I use Hollyhocks instead of a rude word. So thank you OSP I think I might end up with a border full of Hollyhocks with this episode. Which come to think of should be rather pretty! ❤️ Anyway I will join in but will refrain from posting much. I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

It was this episode last year when OSP suggested I use Hollyhocks instead of a rude word. So thank you OSP I think I might end up with a border full of Hollyhocks with this episode. And the stupid mistakes annoy me! So Hollyhocks!! I agree that's it's not a top notch detective story but I really like it, on a plus side Sara is my youngest daughter name. I, too, love this episode...even though there are several glaring mistakes. I think that rather nice computer expert deliberately turned his back on 54124 just to show off!!! I also think Lovett likes Avon, just a bit, as she seems sooooo keen to assist him. As for where what's 'er name got that gun? Same place Dayna had her weapons hidden...methinks. Now to get ready. Tea, biccies, choccie and my nice blue snuggy blanket as it is quite chilly in this 'ere 'all. On a slightly sadder note...Wanted Dead or Alive has almost finished its run on Great Action, but it looks as though it is being repeated from the start again. It is great fun spotting all the actors that we grew to love in the 60's TV shows, Last week Martin Landau turned up and was trampled by an elephant...well he was about to shoot Stevie baby.... Cold! Avon gets all the best lines, so that should make the Avon ladies happy. My problem is that there's no real 'baddies' in it. Sara does the deed, and she has some associates somewhere (who never appear) but it's all a bit ...nebulous (well, it is about space). So bring back the Supreme Commander and her sidekick, that guy in leather, and let's see some real action! "You're not sulking, I hope?"

It was this episode last year when OSP suggested I use Hollyhocks instead of a rude word. So thank you OSP I think I might end up with a border full of Hollyhocks with this episode. Which come to think of should be rather pretty! ❤️ Anyway I will join in but will refrain from posting much. Hi Lorna, don't you like this episode? It's Ok. For me it is a mediocre detective story. And the stupid mistakes annoy me! So Hollyhocks!! It's easily the weakest script of Series Albert, but it's kind of fun, so it's not too bad. Vote Og.
