BLAKE'S 7 *IS* COMING TO BLU-RAY...
SupremeCommanderDiane
The BBC are releasing a 6-disc box set of the newly remastered first series on 11 Nov '24 available to pre-order NOW priced at £39.99 from Amazon, HMV & others.

*SPECIAL OFFER* - I've secured a 20% voucher code if you buy from HMV using my link.
Please go to their site using my link https://hmv.mention-me.com/m/ol/gd4kx...diane-gies (then search on the HMV site for Blake’s 7 Blu-ray box set once you get there via the link) and hopefully I get a little commission if I refer enough people.

As a 'thank you' I'm going to set up a Prize Draw once I know at least 5 people have pre-ordered using my link to offer a signed cast photo as a first prize. I'll be shown who took up my link and once the Box Sets are sent out will do the draw from all those people, with 2 runners up getting a non-signed prize.

Read more about the release on Horizon’s News piece - https://www.blakes7online.com/news.ph...admore=187 which will be updated whenever new info is shared with us.

Click here for the exclusive trailer hot off the presses from the BBC https://youtu.be/_MEREpHICIQ.

I've been told that the go-ahead for Seasons 2, 3 and 4 is wholly dependent on sufficient pre-sales of Season 1. I've been shown some of the remastered footage - on which the Restoration Team have done an incredible job - and with the many MANY special features crammed into 11 hours of viewing, £39.99 (or £31.99 if you use my link - see above!) is an absolute bargain. I strongly urge you all to get your credits together and pre-order just as soon as possible so that the BBC realises they need to go ahead with the rest of the show.

Some days ARE better than others, Section Leader 😊

UPDATE - just had it confirmed that there WILL be a US/Canada release - more info when I have it...

UPDATE 2 - I can share with you that the convention footage that is going to be included in the extra features is from DELIVERANCE '98 - Blake's Seven's 20th Anniversary convention, including some never previously released excerpts. It's a huge honour for me and my fellow D98 co-chairs to have that wonderful event 26 years ago included on the Blu-ray S1 boxset and I can't wait to see how it's come out.

UPDATE 3 (27 Aug) - We now have the date for the BFI Launch event - Sat. 5th October at 12.00pm. TICKETS GO ON SALE WEDNESDAY 28th AUGUST and may sell out very quickly. See separate post with more info.

PLEASE NOTE:
We're happy for any of the above information to be shared with fans on other social media outlets but if you're sharing information you first saw here on our Forum and/or News page PLEASE ensure you share the source as Horizon the official B7 fan club at blakes7online.com and put a link to this forum post or our home page. Thank you.

Fantastic news!!! I have been waiting for this for SO long...and I just hope that there is enough interest and enough orders for season 1 for the BBC to commission seasons 2, 3 & 4...

I wonder (and this is probably just wishful thinking) if there might be some sort of launch event with the remaining B7 crew, to launch the Blu Ray...like they did with the DVD release, waaaay back...I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Well done BBC (and Horizon) for this amazing Thursday news...

The Blu-ray Team have promised to let Horizon know straight away when there's new info to share so keep watching this space, the news page and our Twitter/X account for updates including info on a launch event...

I'm so glad I've finally been able to tell you all about this wonderful news - keeping quiet about it like a good Federation citizen has been very hard... Wink

Was initially skeptical but upon closer investigation has got me looking forward to this! There's so much in them! Usually Blu Ray media is just used as a wheeze to squeeze even more money from the completist fans *cough warner Bros B5 blu ray set*.. But this looks like an effort not seen since the release of the Blake's 7 DVDs.

Now I need to plan where to store my DVD collections with all those precious autographs... I require a vault as big as the one in Pressure Point, wonder what their rate on storage is! Grin

For example I've shared a 20% off link so if you haven't already pre-ordered, that will save you £8 on the price...

Sounds good except, as I watched YouTube clip it says,,,,,,,,updated special effects, no,hope it will not be like Star Trek Original series, That ruined it for me. Upscaled picture, sound yes please, extras yep, but don't mess with the effects that's what made the charm, just my take.
And thank you Diane for letting us know it's on Blu ray and discount ,many thanks .

Fear not, the 'new' special effects are an optional extra - you can watch them instead of the original, or watch the original FX only, or swap between the 2 to compare...

No. But you can still buy the Blake's 7 Production Diary for Season 1 until October so that's what I think the equivalent would be - it is a thing of great beauty and will complement the Blu-rays nicely. An expensive but exciting new era for us fans...

Talking of the Production Diary, congratulations to Jonathan Helm whose incredible research brought us the Making Blake's 7 twitter account and now the Production Diary (with Series 2 coming later this year) as he's been working with the Blu-ray team as a consultant helping to ensure the contents will be inciteful, fascinating and accurate. I'm SO happy to read this news! I've loved B7 since I was a far too young child of 4 sitting on my father's knee watching it And then watching every release since!

I remember going into the HMV store in Bournemouth to buy the VHS fancy cover editions when they came out in the 90's!

Great news, I'm also getting the
"Sorry, there's a delay processing your reward.

We'll contact you by email."

on the discount code.

One of the many things that I love about this set is that it is brought to us by the super talented team that work on the incredible Doctor Who remasters, so we are assured of the absolute best in quality and production…

An absolute steal at just £31.99…November 11th can’t come quick enough!

I'll look into it and update. I think it might be because it's a pre-order but I'm going to try and get it sorted out and let you know tomorrow (I'm too tired to do anything much coherently now - it's been a VERY busy day!)

I don’t think it’s you (or more precisely, your account) Supreme Commander…I got the same from you earlier, but also the same from my friend’s HMV referral too…I think HMV just have a limited number of referral codes, and if they get a lot of requests in a short space of time, it can take up to 24 hours for the codes to get emailed out…

I’d give it until end of the day today (Friday) before you look into it…I’m sure we’ll all get our codes today sometime…

Oh, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a pre-order…the 20% referral codes do work on pre-orders…

And yes, it’s been an exhausting day for you today (for obvious reasons!)…but good exhaustionSmile

Fantastic news and an instant purchase!

This seems quite a timely release as I recently bought and devoured the excellent Production Diary and am working my way through the Origins novels.

My one issue is, shouldn't this be called Series A, rather than Series 1...? Grin

Just checking to see if any of you are still having problems with the discount code? I've had two confirmations so far from HMV that people have used my code but at this point in the exercise I don't get told who the people are (I'm assuming I will at some point in the future when the Blu-rays are actually sent out but don't know how it works.)

Let me know so I know whether to chase it or not. Thanks

I've been trying to check and it's saying that you don't have to use the link, you can just go to HMV straight to the Blake's 7 page at https://hmv.com/search?searchtext=bla...BBox%2BSet

And when you get to the checkout there should be a box to ask if you have a discount code and you can just put my name (Diane Gies) and it should let you have the 20% off that way.

I'm not going to go ahead with the Prize Draw as it's not worked out as I'd expected it to as far as I'm concerned BUT you should all still be able to get 20% off your first HMV order and thus be able to pre-order the Blu-ray box set for £8 less than the official Amazon or HMV price. Every little helps, right?

Their blurb to me says:
Friends can simply enter your name at checkout to get 20% off.

All they need to do to get their reward is to click on the link asking if they've "Been referred by a friend?" in the hmv.com checkout and enter your name - Diane Gies.

They then add: If there is another person registered with the same name as you then we’ll just ask your friends for your email address too. (It's an unusual name so I can't imagine they would have more than one person registered with my name and I used my personal email address so I'm not going to share it here on a public forum but if anyone IS told there is more than one person using my name and you have to give the email address let me know so I can deal with it please!)

Can I just ask what may be an obvious question: is this release going to work on Australian region DVD players or do we have to wait for a local release here?
Elegant, my friend. Simply elegant.
