The episode: Colin Five - Carry On Captain Shad (The Harvest Of Kairos) The date: Tuesday, August 5th, 2025 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which Sid James stars as Jarvik, Barbara Windsor as Servalan, Kenneth Connor as Captain Shad, Kenneth Williams as Avon, Joan Sims as Cally, Charles Hawtrey as Vila, Jim Dale as Tarrant, Valerie Leon as Dayna, Peter Butterworth as Zen and Orac, and Hattie Jacques and Bernard Bresslaw as Boris The Spider. Oooooh, Marton! There's double-entendres aplenty, as all your Carry On favourites travel to the planet Kairos at the time of the Harvest, and Avon shows Cally his big rock! Episode in a word: Smeghead! (Who? Keep on reading! ) Characters to cheer: It’s very hard not to like Jarvik The Caveman, despite him being a bit of a sexist. Or is he? I dunno. Ladies, what do you think? In any case, it’s Servie who has him carrying out her every whim and she also finally gets on the Libby flight deck. She’s great in this, with Jacs really enjoying the chance to camp it up – she plays a big part in making this episode so enjoyable. Character to boo: To quote Dave Lister: “You know what the big joke is? From this particular phase in history we derive the phrase, ‘Beware of Greeks bearing gifts’ when it would be much more logical to derive the phrase, ‘Beware of Trojans, they're complete smegheads’!”. Well, it’s not just the Trojans, because that’s exactly what Tarrant falls for here. I bet it’s the last time Avon allows Tarrant in charge of the Libby for a week’s work experience. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Andrew Burt (Jarvik) was the original Jack Sugden in “Emmerdale Farm”. No really – he was! Best line: “But first, there is the question of that degrading and primitive act to which I was subjected in the control room... I should like you to do it again.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Thief Vote Og.

From The Electronic Journal of Roj Bear (Avon’s Teddy, if you’re new to these) Ven Jarvik… what a guy…. I bet he doesn’t consider it unmanly to cuddle his Teddy Bear, I bet he thinks, if he does it, it has to be manly by definition. He certainly didn’t hesitate to cuddle Dayna, or Servalan, or… Wait a tick…. Okay, maybe I am just a bit jealous as The Boss quit paying attention to me and is spending all his time fawning over his Pet Rock. Didn’t those things go out of style in the mid to late 20th century of the Old Calendar? I tried to listen to The Boss explain the Pet Rock. It made Zen see a ship mightier than Liberator, Cally saw ‘her parents,’ Orac saw an even more smug computer, I saw a semi sentient animatronic teddy bear with artificial intelligence even more in need of a hug than I am. What did Servalan see? No one knows, but whatever it was saved my artificially furry butt. So, we didn't get the Kairopan, Servie didn’t get the Liberator, Jarvik didn’t get to keep breathing, and I didn’t get a cuddle. But The Boss got a pet rock… which no one will ever mention again. TT will explain later, And speaking of TT, TTFN, Roj Bear . .  Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

One of the things that really bugs me about the BBC, is that over the last 45 years whenever B7 was mentioned by them they always showed the clip of Boris the Spider trying to walk over the landscape which always resulted in the audience watching whatever show it was falling around laughing their heads off. Even when Mr D was in one show that happened! It is sooooo annoying.

One of the things that really bugs me about the BBC, is that over the last 45 years whenever B7 was mentioned by them they always showed the clip of Boris the Spider trying to walk over the landscape which always resulted in the audience watching whatever show it was falling around laughing their heads off. Even when Mr D was in one show that happened! It is sooooo annoying. You would prefer Moloch? The Thaarnn? Let's face it, BBC monsters of the day were a joke. B7 is contemporary to Tom Baker's run as Doctor Who, with the giant puppet rat from Talons of Weng Chi'ang, the Minotaur's from Horns of the Nimon, or Nessie from Terror of the Zygons.... Face it, when the BBC shows clips of older sci fi, they aren't promoting the old shows we love, they are promoting their new shows, as if to say, look how far we've come. And to be honest, they really haven't gone very far at all... . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Hi all, I won’t be joining in , not my favourite episode and neighbours really getting me down went out on my bike for 6 hours Sunday and sat in the dark at the beech till 11pm, they making me unhappy. But as I like to end on a good note I signed my new contract for 2nd job, got training next week. Enjoy your evening all I plan to live forever,or die trying.
