Well, Cally gets A* for what she's learned about piloting the ship. Jenna must have been giving lessons. Maybe she got over her xenophobia.

Has anyone (Neil Faulkner for example) ever done a compendium of last lines? How many for each character? The best etc.? Don't remember if there was such in the Horizon Newsletters.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Don't think it was xenophobia...

Hmm, I don't recall one, just that the first word spoken in the series is "Blake!" (apart from the PA announcements?) and the last, "Avon!"

It's a great idea, though.

AnneArthur
That was very enjoyable.

Thanks for your company everyone, see you next week.

I'm thinking "I'm coming back" "I will get you Blake" "Fire!" They're all good. Who doesn't ever get one?

I'm so sorry about being late with the thread. I'll try not to let it happen again. Thanks for staying with it when it did finally turn up. I'll set up next week's NOW.
Such a pity we don't see Servalan again for a fortnight. Oh, well. Hope you have a good week.

And poor old Travis' neck will be on the line for sure by then.

Hope you have a less slushy week this week Brits. See you next time.

That's a good quiz question too!

Soolin gets the last line in "Gold" - "Not for nothing, Tarrant..."
Tarrant has the last line in "Blake" - "Avon!"
Even Orac gets "Yes... master!"

I'm sure Blake and Avon must have the lion's share. Did Gan, Jenna, Cally, Travis II. Slave or Zen get a last line? Did Servalan?

Joe Dredd
Okay, Jenna gets the last line in "Orac", when the ship blows up on screen - "Blake!"

Vila - the "It'll be pink asteroids next" line.

Servalan just had the last line; it's what made me think of it again after pondering privately on various occasions. I don't think Cally does and I don't think Jenna does either.

Servalan got the last line in this episode, surely? 'Launch the pursuit ships'.

Travis I has the "If it takes all my life" and "Keep running" lines, I think.

I can't think of anything for Dayna.

Sorry, that's my fault as I didn't actually have the episode playing. The good company is a bigger draw.

Oh dear, now I'm going to have to watch all the episodes with Servalan in them to see whether she gets any other last words...

Yes, Travis does ok. I'm not sure about Dayna. What about Vila? Oh, just remembered: Vila had the last line in Duel. No scripts or anything to hand to check further. And I must go have my dinner. See you all next time!

Vila closes out "Horizon" - "I'll tell you this, though: it beats work." I've alos just remembered, "Let's hope they've all got pretty legs!"

Carnell ends "Weapon"

I'm happy to know Zen finishes "Pressure Point" with a "Confirmed" to Blake's "Just get us out of here."

AnneArthur
OK. Quick analysis here.

Season 1. Blake gets the lion's share of last lines, 6 in total, including the first three episodes, which are all statements of intent - he is very much stamping his authority on things. In episode 4 the last line goes to Zen, a 'Confirmed' in response to a command from Blake. Otherwise 2 last lines for Travis, 2 for Jenna, 1 for Vila and 1 for Servalan. Avon never once gets the last line, which surprised me, tbh.

Joe Dredd
Dayna has "She took her glove off" in Warlord.

'Sleer' gets the last line in Sand, about not killing Tarrant "Yet."

Joe Dredd
Good night everyone.

AnneArthur
Now for season 2. It takes until Trial for Avon to get his first last line - a joke about philosophical fleas at Vila's expense - but after that there is no stopping him: he gets another 3 (Countdown, Voice from the Past and of course Star One). This means he narrowly beats Blake with 3 (Redemption, Shadow and Killer). This suggests a definite changing of the balance of power to me. Otherwise, Jenna 2, Vila 2, Carnell 1, and of course Zen's 'Confirmed' in Pressure Point. Travis's loss of power seems to be confirmed by him never getting the last line, and, sad to say, it is now clear that poor old Gan never got one.

AnneArthur
Season 3. Aftermath ends with Tarrant's 'What are you doing on my ship?' and he gets the last line also in Dawn of the Gods and Harvest of Kairos, on each occasion giving an order. Avon gets the last line in Powerplay, and like his line in Trial, it is a joke at Vila's expense. He gets another joke in Children of Auron, and 'Well, slightly exaggerated, anyway' in Rumours of Death: it is Sarcophagus before he gets a last line giving an order. But after that he takes over, getting 6 last lines in total - again, this seems to mirror the powerplay (as opposed to Powerplay) of the season - Avon is initially disconcerted by Tarrant, but gradually reasserts his authority. Tarrant gets the last line in Terminal, though, again taking command, which suggests that things aren't yet set in stone. So, Avon 6, Tarrant 4 and one, Deathwatch, where they both speak at the same time. The remaining 2 belong to Vila. No woman gets a last line at all (shame).

AnneArthur
Season 4. Whatever might be the case at the end of season 3, in season 4 Avon asserts his authority over last lines, getting 5 of them. The next largest number is 3 for Soolin, in Power, Assassin and Gold. Vila only gets 1 - the pink asteroids speech in Rescue, and Tarrant also only 1, in Blake - his last word, 'Avon!'. Rather pleasingly, Dayna actually gets a last line, although it would have been nice if it had been something better than 'She took her glove off' (Warlord). ORAC gets 'Yes, Master' in Headhunter, and the final last line goes to Servalan in Sand. So 7 to the men, 5 to the women, 1 to the computers.

Well, how to pleasantly waste a Saturday morning!

Maybe we need a last line for the characters that died as well?
