Best episode, for me. More meaningful about the people than all the shoot-em-ups from male writers. Fewer plot holes, less stupid magic technology that doesn't look right etc etc. Great fun.

The other element in the equation is the Sand. It is clearly affecting both Servalan and Tarrant, and dictating their behaviour - but how much? Another imponderable. Oh yes, the Sand is the star of this episode. The people go through the motions but it's always there, apparently in the background, but not. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

But that is a great episode - it shakes up all the elements like a kaleidoscope and lets them fall into a new pattern, and we see the series in a completely new way. But the elements were nearly all there already, and it fits in perfectly with what we already know. |
