Nice of those fed engineers to put all that lava on their artificial planet.

It's not lava, it's blood. After all, the planet has a heartbeat. It may be a living planet.

Now there's some first class thinking!

The planet also breathes, thus changing its shape.

Hugbot that is sheer genius!

And where is Servalan?

Back on an inconvenient Federation world, while the presidency is being stolen in her absence.

Terminal. Rescue, Power and Traitor take place in quick succession. The presidency must have been stolen before Terminal, hence her being served in Terminal by the Jimmy Savile lookalikes rather than Federation guards.

I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

Vila smart enough to take a gun that did NOT belong to the creepy rescuer.

Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo!

"You mean you're here by choice?" asks D, and they all really, really have to think about it. Rather heavy-footed directing IMO.

One knock against Soolin, her taste in men.

Vila does a lot of smart things in this episode.

Vila takes Chekhov's Federation rifle.

AnneArthur
Good old Vila - going for the gun Dorian can't control.

That make her fit in perfectly given Tarrant's taste in women...

Nah, this is 49 year old me. 8-year-old me spent a look time to get over the death of Cally. My favourite characters in the previous season had been Avon and Cally, hence Sarcophagus being one of my favourites form that season.

Looks more like a Cardassian rifle to me.

Love the way Soolin pushes Avon's gun aside

Those glasses are so eighties. Every student kitchen had a set when I was an undergraduate.

She needed a ship. He had one.

It's highly ambiguous their exact relationship. Not that close, I suspect, as otherwise she'd suspect something was a bit weird with Dorian.

And they are definitely NOT the type of glass you would use to serve an allegedly 'good' wine (although given the colour, it doesn't seem to be that good).

Paula
They've talked about Blake's 7 having Daleks in it at one time- but we actually got a genuine Sea Devil in this episode.

So much packed into this episode. Resolves the cliffhanger from the previous season, manages a soft reboot of the show and also squeezes in a homage to the Picture Of Dorian Gray. Incidentally, I ordered the book through Amazon today.

I watched this the first time in the 8ßs on BFBS, and the reception quality wasn't very good. At least, that made the sea devil look less rubbery, which was a good thing.

trevor travis
Avon having proddy tool envy. It's at this point that Dorian is doomed!

Wait- didn't Avon hold Orac's key? So how did it come to be on Orac's body so Dorian could fix it?

No indeed. And it seems to be in a milk bottle, too. What is appropriate seems to have changed a lot, it seems.

And I bet Big Finish would love to get the rights to Series D so that they can explore Dorian's character and backstory. Especially his connection to Ensor.

Suggestions that Tarrant is quite a bit older than Dayna. Is it possible he's around 30 and she's around 18?

Dorian would be under their Chris Boucher copyright. Soolin, Slave and Scorpio are not (owned by the BBC).

Big Finish has Heroes and Villains out now- it features Amagons, Shrinker and Dorian!

Dorian took the key while Avon was bathing.

(Steady, Avon ladies, steady!)
