Hey, Joe remembered us! How's things with you, JD? Blake's been sentenced and is on his way to Cygnus Alpha, or so they tell us.

They are, drugged, aren't they. But it's a sinister foreshadowing of the elevetor scene in the final series! Who is this Limping Ginger following along? Can't be good. Ginger? Is he called Del?? Del, Dev, whatever. And he's a Tarrant. Bad news all round. Now I'm imagining a version in which Blake is tailed by Del Tarrant . . . ![]() The Tarrant we know is probably still in primary school while we watch Blake being framed. Sorry... being rightfully arrested for going Outside and associating with outlaws. Now I'm imagining a primary-school-age Tarrant! ![]() The curly-haired scamp who charms his way out of everything? Who brings his teacher presents to offset having forgotten to complete his homework? The one who is trying to emulate his more intelligent older brother? In Julius Caesar, in which Vila makes an excellent 2nd pleb, that scamp has straight hair. Who was he playing in Julius Caesar? I've seen him in The Birthday Party, in the nineties, and he had wavy hair in that - although not the tight curls he had in Blakes 7. He plays Lucius, Brutus' servant. He was 13 at the time. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

I find myself wishing Vila was cast as a much younger person...but then he wouldn't have had the wealth of experience...

These Federation people are distinctly charming of the plotty variety. So unlike governments of the time. In Australia we'd recently lost one thanks to the assistance of Lord Mountbatten and the then-POWales. We were smarting a bit. They aren't really politicians, though - doctors, lawyers, administrators, behind the scenes manipulators. They support the Federation, which makes them part of the establishment, which makes them 'political' as far as the rebels are concerned. It's that Morag woman who sets the whole thing up. I wonder if she's a personal friend of the current President. They absolutely are, and you could be right about Morag. She's a force to be reckoned with. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

See the Spotted thread from post 218 & onwards for pictures you can click on to enlarge. Hopefully this will take you there: Put me down, Vila. Edit: For some reason that takes you to the thread, but not the exact post. Anyway, check post 218 etc in Spotted. |

Richie and Ravella must be under surveillance - they've been Outside before, and Dev T is on their tail as much as Blake's.

'Earth Time' certainly makes sense. None of that setting clocks back and forward...just one time, and you fit your activities to whatever the time is where you are. Interesting.

But just think of your cortisol levels! ![]() It wouldn't matter - you'd just have to get used to calling what looks like 8.30pm now (to you) 09.30am. Just that you'd be going to bed at 12. And it would have to be the 24-hour clock. Always supposing the day length hadn't been affected by something or someone meddling with the Earth's orbit etc. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Very brutally practical, very Federation. And, perhaps, an indication that a lot has been lost/gone backwards since the start of the 2nd calendar. It's certainly a good way of covering the inevitable technological advances since the 1970s that new watchers might have problems with and, at the same time, makes everything seem a little more gruesome and primitive. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Well, apart from it all being a bit dark atm, this series looks like being a great fight between the rebels, whose numbers are growing, and the Administration, whose hold on power must be struggling to keep up. I predict a final showdown where the rebels win and freedom is restored to all... (It would be if this was an American series). "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Well, that has got the new year off to a good start. I just wish I knew if I had work this month or not. There was a chance that I might have a more substantial supply teaching job, but I won't know until Monday morning if I've got it - and I will be expected to start on Monday morning. |
