Hello everyone, late as usual. Gan going full caveman here.

Hi AnneA. Glad you made it.
You've got to wonder what Gan was REALLY like.

I wonder if the limiter was actually malfunctioning - might it not be a thing that normally keeps him docile, but that the Federation can flip to make him go beserk? It sounds like the sort of experiment they might try.

Well, one of the "linkages" does seem to be broken. But it does make one wonder what the real purpose was other than the fact that it's termed a "limiter", implying that something is being limited. Maybe it's the easy route for certain social Grades as opposed to Blake's complete brainwashing.

But it could perhaps be broken deliberately?

Not if it needs a surgeon to reset it each time. If it were grunts in battle mode where no survival was expected, then I could see that making sense.

I think that's exactly what Gan might be. A single-use weapon that can be infiltrated into a group and then set off. Not very precise, but possibly effective.

Kayn later identifies him as a psychopath and I think that's more likely.

On the basis that it takes one to know one?

Kayn is a sociopath.

Hello everyone,

Like Tyce, i am just passing through tonight. However, whereas Tyce appears to be performing in four different musicals in the space of two days - what talent! - I am getting ready for a short road trip tomorrow. My neice is getting married in Newcastle, so it's a round trip in order to be back to meet work/school commitments. I would have driven up earlier but it was logisticly impossible with the dog. A day trip means she is on her own a little while longer than if I were at work, but in familiar surrounds and somewhere I know she can't get out.

Tyres are pumped, petrol tank is full (at almost $2.50/litre - eek!), coolant is topped up, and I've just hopped on line to clear the credit card. Now, on to dishes, shining shoes and must remember to grab a tie.

I loved hearing the discussion of this episode on the "Blake's Back" tapes. Ever since then, I can't think of this episode without hearing Paul Darrow's magificent voice saying, "Gan Goes Bananas!"

Enjoy the episode. Cheers all!

Hope everything goes smoothly and the wedding is enjoyable.

It's the Archangel Michael slaying a dragon. Very ancient, very borrowed iconography.

There's a lady named Alexa Chipman posting "first time watching" reaction videos on Youtube. She's turned into a big Servalan fan - very much taken with her outfits, and was very pleased with her coup in Star One. She's posted her Orbit reaction last Monday. Warlord tomorrow. And then - Blake. Someone spoiled some of it, I'm not sure how much, but she looks shocked on her Patreon video thumbnail (where longer reactions are posted earlier).

Not ORAC or Avon, or even Blake, who destroyed the Destiny craft. They get comprehensively hoist with their own petard by being hit by the Federation.

Kayn hasn't actually examined Gan when he calls him a psychopath. I think he's just going on what the Federation have said about the sort of people they give limiters to - and they might well have just been rounding up the usual suspects. He attacked and killed a Federation guard unarmed, ergo he must be a psychopath.

Avon's saving grace is that he is consistently a better man than he would like to think he is.

Seems a fair assessment on Kayn's part. After all, presumably a neurosurgeon had to insert the limiter in the first place. I'm not for assuming all these people were unjustly accused of their crimes, even if it is part of Federation practice to get rid of annoyances.

It's the being consistent that counts. You never know where you are with Blake, except that his Cause matters more than anything else, including himself. He's a dangerous person to be around. Whereas if Avon was going to kill you, he'd say so.

I'm just looking for a loophole, really - I don't like the 'Gan as psychopath' story, probably just because I rather like Gan and would like him to be the gentle giant he presents as - and I'm playing around with alternative possibilities.

Agreed. Also, going back to Avon decking Sara on the Destiny ship and saying that he rather enjoyed it, just the other day, watching Foyle's War for the billionth time, DCS Foyle says exactly the same thing after he decks a crim. People see one as good and the other as bad. Why? What's the difference?
