I've just realised that one of the (many) things I dislike about this ep is Cally's voice distortion. It feels wrong. Even for sn alien - and if it could take over all her other functions, why not the voice?

I always reason it as the alien having not yet taken over ALL of Cally.

Sorry - almost forgot I promised to give Travisina's love to all. She's still having to apologise for not joining us due to pressure of 'things that can only be done at the weekend'. And she has a lot of those.

Love to Travisina. Sorry she's so busy.

Yes, that does work well.

Distorted and echoey becaue it's coming from a long way away/inside... yes, but I still find it an ugly noise that makes me want to not hear it.

Not even a jokey ending. Oh well. Not one of your finest Tanith. Although Cally did a great job with the acting. Roll on SAND!

An interesting ep. Once we recognise who's who and what's what, it all makes sense. Our Ms. Alien is a bit of a chancer, sort of a drifting parasite.

I think one thing I like about Tanith Lee episodes is that they have a rather oblique take on relationships between the characters - drawing on what's there already (like Cally's unrequited love for Avon, here), and expanding it in interesting ways.

I am now wondering if the human body (which has always rather irritated me) was original, but perhaps just the body of her last host?

Ha! talk about Pavlov! The dog heard the end music and is now on his feet, expecting me to go out into the garden and throw things for him to fetch.

You're into those, aren't you? I'm not big into Pringles, which are made from potato flour and I like my praties straight up, but if I ever see an prawn cocktail flavour I'll have to give them a go, being as prawn cocktails ARE rather delicious (for those of us who remember what they are).

It had better watch out - could end up as a Decima or Kairopan spider. Or one of those cancer crabscorpion crossover things.

Poor Roxy and Louella! No idea where my kittens are now. Probably outside finding dangerous things to do. They are just about teenagers now, after all.

Louella is that last cat we'll be able to have, unless we adopt a geriatric, that will be able to go out. From now on, if we want them outside we have to invest in cat-proof fencing several storeys' high because, y'know, ALL cats are out kill, kill, killing, ALL the time.

OK, I'd better go back and check that all 30 of the SC's blimmin' image links work. Have a great 'lazy' weekend, Anne. Try not to stress too much about Paris/NY, Obsidian. I'm sure it will all work out fine.
Take care, and hope to 'see' you again next week. (Or midweek, if you're Anne).

Anyway, thanks for the rewatch peoples. Must check out how THE WORD is going. Then back to the grind...

I'll miss you next week because I have an OAP's birthday "do" to attend. Have a good week, and enjoy your long weekend!
