Why do I always hear David Attemborough's voice in my head whenever we get a shot of the polar icecap? No, no, no, no! Refuse to watch that drowning polar bear ever again. Not that I don't like Mr. Attenborough. His son is very nice too. Seeing them interacting close up over lecture hall technology had to have been one of my best-ever experiences. That's good to hear! They were very funny with Robert going "Da-ad!" all embarrassed. Robert taught here for years. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Did we ever find out why they didn't just turn the device with the plungers upside down?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Did we ever find out why they didn't just turn the device with the plungers upside down? Presumably it just keeps on coming anyway. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Yet another teleport bracelet lost. The ship must automatically make new ones - like the auto-repair. |

Yeah, Avon has the tiniest smirk there before having the last word. Del Grant proves that Avon is human is probably the reason he (Grant) is a popular character.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

The equanimity Avon shows in this episode doesn't fit with the snarky persona that keeps things bubbling along. Anyway, it would have been too many chiefs etc. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Ha! My dog had been sitting quietly but he has learned what the end music means! Now he's bringing his toy, reminding me that it's time to take him out and play. Thanks for today. Hope you have a good week, both of you. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

I like Blake's smirk at the end. He knows Avon has to believe that his emotions are deeper and more meaningful than other people's. |

I think that this is an episode that loses something on rewatching. It is obvious that the countdown will go all the way down, but ultimately not detonate - they always do - but I remember the first time that I saw it, trying to work out the relationship between Avon and Grant. When you know that he's her brother, it takes something away. |

To all of them, one way or another. Well, Blake evidently doesn't see Avon's tiny smirk where you can tell he's thinking "I tell Blake something that he'd like to believe about me – i.e., that I'm inscrutable". And Blake laughs, thinking "Jolly old Avon. How typical of him, hiding his feelings like that". Patronising indeed! Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

When you know that he's her brother, it takes something away. It has to work like that otherwise the ep would be over in two minutes. But I think the truth about the relationship does exactly what comes about in the end, which is to raise a mystery and thus inspire another episode. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

I see Avon as thinking 'How could someone like that ever think he could understand me and Anna? Him!?!' and Blake as thinking, 'Well let him think he's so much deeper than everyone else if he likes. How typical of him, even his love affairs have to be better than everyone else's.' They are perhaps both being patronising - or perhaps not. |

Yes - but when the mystery is no longer there, the episode loses a little from it. The 'part two' episode is much better - even when you know what happens, it is worth watching again. |

Avon's having a lend of Blake; he's only semi serious. But I don't see it as really an 'off' ending. They aren't having a go at each other, more having a joke. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.
