Watching Doctor Who Robots of Death on our ROKU channel today, I know most people know that the cast included a number of B7 actors and writers like writer Chris Boucher, actors Pamela Salem from The Way Back, David Bailie, from Project Avalon, Brian Croucher, Travis II, David Collings, Blake, but I also spotted those metallic blue shelving units seen in Seek, Locate, Destroy, and also the couch seen in the Way Back- in Ven Glynd's office-now in the lounge of the Sandminer! BBC rule number one- never waste a prop!

The mention of Kaldor City in both Robots of Death and Headhunter is usually cited as the link to prove that B7 and DW exist in the same universe.
Personally I always found the presence of the same couch in both universes far more compelling. If Space Ikea furniture is good enough for the Sand Miners, it's good enough for the Federation Legal Department.
I also like to think of B7's Malcolm Travis as the twin brother of DW's Borg Travis.
I look exactly as Avon reasoned I would.

Next Saturday's leg of the Paris-Nice cycle race is a 175km route from Nice to Auron. Blimey, I always imagined Cally's home planet was a lot further away than that.

I watched part one of the 1977 BBC "Treasure Island", with the ever-excellent Alfred "Frank Marker" Burke as Long John Silver and Patrick Troughton as Israel Hands. Every time Blind Pew spoke, I thought "That's David Collings", but I couldn't recognise him with his hat and blind-eye contact lens. As I watched it further, I realised that the boy playing Jim Hawkins was Ashley Knight, who I knew as Ken, the inventor of Metal Mickey.

Because of this, I was glued to the credits. Not only was David Collings there to make a B7 connection, but Roy Boyd was in it, and Stephen Greif -- and I didn't even spot him. Michael E. Briant was the producer.

(I'd forgotten this was full of familiar faces - Mr Cheeseman from Dad's Army (Talfryn Thomas), Jo Kendall, Barry Letts directing, etc. Plus Brian Croucher turns up in a later episode.)

Thanks Hugbot. Jack Watson is a particularly good fit for this, as Billy Bones, with his hard-worn features.

And as you probably also know, Gareth Thomas was in it as the workman at the start of the flick, Barbara Shelley, Dr. Plaxton from Blake's 7 was in it and Duncan Lamont, who was slated to play the character of Blake before his untimely death. It's a great little flick.

I've probably spotted this one before, but one of our local channels does an admirable job at repeating repeats, so I was overjoyed to see Paul Darrow and Nick Brimble (General - "Traitor"Wink appearing together in Law & Order UK S7 E5, "Mortal", Mr. Brimble as Dr Hastings and PD as Justice Prentice. Paul Darrow clearly enjoyed playing the ascerbic judge.

I've just started watching the 1965 ABC serial Undermind, I've watched the first two so far. It stars Jeremy 'Very Tragic' Wilkin. Episode 2 features Michael 'Oh, are you?' Gough.

I sought this out to watch it and oof L&O UK was a tired show based on this ep. The actors were largely phoning it in and it was just so flat and uninspired. I get the feeling they had Peter Davison for one day and filmed a whole seasons worth of scenes with him in the same room. But of course always great to see B7 alumni!

Do you have the Kaldor City discs? https://www.kaldorcity.com/audios/b7/...ndex.html# Well worth it. Many of the actors appear in them. Sadly we've lost almost all of them. Just click on Kaldor City in the top menu.

A great weeks' viewing on Law & Order UK here in Oz. Glynis Barber as the mother of a former drug addict in ep 7.06 "Dependent". Mother and daughter don't really get along any more, with good reason.

My lovely wife bought me the Doctor Who Classic Season 14 Blu-Ray for my birthday last week. Had the chance to sit down and watch my way through Talons of Weng-Chiang last night, which includes a wonderful appearance from Patsy 'Giroc' Smart as a disgustingly spittle encrusted old crone.
I've never seen anything like it in all my puff!

Patsy Smart really did have 'disgusting old crone' down to a fine art, didn't she? I was curious to know what she looked like as a young actress but haven't managed to find any pictures of her online in anything before her Upstairs Downstairs role - as if she was born old.

If IMDB is to be believed, she didn't have her first TV appearance until her late 30's. I wouldn't say that's in any way old, but back then in the 1950's I suspect your average 40-year-old looked very much like a 60yo does today! I think you'd have to dig very deep back into her theatre days to find any 'young' Patsy photographs.

Patsy Smart appeared as the uncredited 'Mother' in the 1957 film, "The Flying Scot", more than 20 years before she appeared in B7.

I've recently finished Undermind from 1965. Apart from starring Jeremy Wilkin and episode 2 featuring Michael Gough, the only other B7 actor I spotted was Robert 'To look for those tunnels' James in episode 4... which I thought was by far the weakest link in an otherwise interesting series.

Watched the film Drake's Venture which was screened on Rewind TV on Saturday. Never realised that Paul Darrow and John Thaw had acted together on screen. Good enough movie, though in places it reminded me of Blackadder 2!

Spotted not a character but a magic trick!!!
This morning on Richard the Lionheart (dated 1960s) a magician did a magic trick for the king and what should he use? Why the same tube that Vila used in Sarcophagus for his magic trick with scarves...yes the scarves were also used but ended up as a black and white bit of material. Could the same magician have taught the young man in Lionheart as he did Michael?

Watching a lot of Space:1999 at the moment and heaps of Blake's 7 faces popping up such as Julian Glover (Kayn in Breakdown and Jarak in Alpha Child).

Helpfully the Gerry Anderson website has a pretty amazing page devoted to the cross overs!

Message from Travisina:
On BBC Sounds, came across the classic SF novel Hothouse by Brian Aldiss, read by none other than Gareth Thomas. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b00...y/b00m9p2w
I found it by chance, perusing the BBC for Things To Listen To, found Hothouse, vaguely remembered it because I had read the book when I was about 13, and I'd not read it since - and indeed, remembered little about it other than the beginning in which 'Klat falls to the green'. Three words into the audiobook, and I thought, 'hang on, I know that voice!' and sure enough, it was Gareth. First broadcast in 2009.

Had a lovely Steven Pacey evening the other day, first with him as the thwarted developer, Michael Harrison, in yet another repeat of Foyle's War, S6 Ep3 "The Hide", and immediately after in a change of channel where he's the cop with ennui, DI Upton, in Finders Keepers (2024). I very much liked him in this, even though it's a small part.

David Haig – Forres in RoD – as Oscar Putney, the rather vile Waxworks owner in Penny Dreadful. No idea how I managed to miss this show when it came out except that it is a Sky production and I don't go there on principle. A crazy premise for the whole show and David Haig carries his role well.
