Rewatch Downunder Saturday 27th January A4 TIME SQUAD

No, it's a different Steventon. The one where the convention is is the one in Oxfordshire, right?

Hello, I'm here- disappointing the cat, who wants to be stroked. And we're in the middle of the first big Blake/Avon row. Blake is taking charge, and Avon is snarking - and this will go on for two series.

And Cally is not the first alien they meet, Ms Virn - technically the Time Squad are that. And they are more typically downbeat Blakes 7 - hostile beings with whom our heroes never establish meaningful contact.

OK, then. Cally is the first alien who survives meeting them. How are things with you?

Not really sure. OK I think, but I'm having trouble making contact with my brother, and I'm getting worried. Probably unnecessary. I was awake half the night worrying, and what I think I would like now is 50 minutes not worrying! But I appreciate you asking. Grin

Oh dear. Sorry about that. Worry and upset are understandable at this time. Don't worry about this lot in charge of Liberator. You know they'll be ok because the series would end now otherwise.Grin

I love when Jenna says “don’t tell him that”. LOL

Having Jenna explain what 'cryogenic' is sounds so laboured now.

When will Blake learn to say 'please' and 'thank you'?

I was just about to say that I think that when cryogenic capsules have been encountered in Star Trek TNG and Babylon 5, it was assumed that the viewers would have a basic knowledge.

And, to answer your second question, when hell freezes over.

Bother, you're right. Hers was the one in Hampshire. I thought someone told me when I was there last time, but now I've looked it up. Never believe anything you hear!

Jenna is making no bones about not trusting Avon, either to Blake or to himself.

The exposition was possibly the Chris Boucher padding to which JD was alluding.

Which is a bit silly really, because there's trust and trust. They're all in this mess together and Avon and Vila's interest in staying alive seems to me to trump most other aspirations. As we discover later, Blake was rather counting on Avon to do the "right" thing.

Sorry, I’m purposefully about five minutes behind you guys, because I love all the Blake, Jenna and Avon interaction.

It's the best part of the episode. You definitely shouldn't miss it.

Sounds like Blake's been doing his homework about Saurian Major. Pity he doesn't always find out what he's leading them into before it happens.

How are you? How's your mother doing?

She’s well enough to make my life hell! She came out of hospital yesterday and is doing her very best Sarah Bernhard impersonation, but she’s actually doing very well.

I've never had to try writing 'tense' music: can't be easy to avoid stereotypes. Yes, maracas are good - they hint of things that rattle, like bones, or rattlesnakes, perhaps.

I get the feeling that this is something he has been planning for some time. Target 2, after rescuing the prisoners on Gauda Prime. I wonder if his siblings were among those who were exiled to the outer worlds (and then killed)?

That sounds trying - poor you. But I'm glad that she's recovering well.

You have not broken your arm, Jenna. Stop making such a fuss. You bumped it a bit. If your humerus was broken you'd be in a lot more pain than that.

I only notice them in one other ep. Of course, right now I can't remember which. My brain hurts a bit at present, what with 8 separate Booking.com tabs open and 2 Airbnb. Decisions, decisions.

Well, the trip from Earth took a while. He had to have something to think about. Although I'd be surprised if Raiker et al would allow their prisoners research facilities. More likely he'd been cosy-ing up to Zen when the others weren't looking.

The BEST version of Cally until much later.

The "alone and silent" line might explain why Cally calls Blake's name in Terminal, because she, in fact, is the one who does it that way in the end.

Limestone and chalk are BIG in SPACE. Means there must have been lots of planets with seas. Hmmm. Thinks.

Wonder how much she got paid for that one word 'appearance' in Series 4 ?

An excellent point. Unless of course, it's all an illusion. A drug-induced and electronic dream?

As in Jabberwocky, where all of Series 4/D was Cally's dream?
