They've now crashed, and again it seems to be the women trying to do something practical.

Well, by this time, two of the crew are feeling fairly distressed. They know what they've got now (Scorpio) is a comedown from the Liberator and they're also aware that they've lost a lot. That's why Avon's making daft decisions and Vila is pretending he's drunk. These boys badly need an analyst, not an antagonist, which is what Tarrant is. The women know when to hold their peace.

Yes, but this assumes that Soolin and Dayna don't have traumatic pasts, which they do. Nobody's undamaged here.

But their damaged pasts haven't accumulated in quite the same way and aren't directly linked to this particular enterprise, whereas Avon's and Vila's are. I'm not assuming a thing. Avon and Vila are suffering from Complex Post-Traumatic Syndrome.

It poured with rain all yesterday, Ms Virn, and was quite windy yesterday morning, although that died down quickly. The river will be 'out' in a day or so though, when all that water gets down from the Pennines - I suspect there will be flooding. The rain has just stopped.

Not good. We didn't get any rain - unusual for the Lakes! Just a lot of wind. Hope you're well out of it.

Further to your previous comments... both Dayna and Soolin must have issues around lost/missing parents. Has anyone written a fanfic about that?

Both Soolin and Dayna have sought to resolve their issues by dealing with them directly, by wiping out the people they hold responsible.

A good survival tactic, but what might the whole thing do to them emotionally?

Vila has a wonderfully expansive knowledge about all the rough and bad things out there in the galaxy. How he's kept himself safe, no doubt, by running away from them.

I personally think that the major trauma for Avon is being played for a fool, successfully, twice in one year - by Anna and by Servalan. His sense of himself as the brains of any outfit has taken a hell of a battering.

Well, killing people seems very much by-the-by as they are involved in a war. Soolin is hard-bitten and Dayna hasn't managed to deal with things (Servalan) yet. Dayna is very much on the early end of acquiring emotional scars.

But he has acknowledged that. He says he never recognised the Fool. Tick! He acknowledges a partial emotional death from what happens to him on Earth. Tick! It's the bits he doesn't want to acknowledge openly (which doesn't mean he doesn't think about them) that are the issue. The disappearance of Blake, the loss of Liberator, the death of Cally, what he owes to Vila, his reliance on others when he's always claimed not to need anyone, and the parallel with Servalan and being up against a wall in his own underground room. He really doesn't want to acknowledged that he's scared out of his wits.

We don't sanction publicity around our military craft. For that matter, why do you want to see our ships?

It's funny that someone at the time thought these vehicles – three and multi-wheeled – were futuristic. They just make me think of the Banana Splits, which is decidedly 1960s.

And now I need to get back to work. My boss, while negotiating a generous extension for the bit of the heresy book that he is writing, has absolutely vetoed any extension for my bit. It has to be completed by the end of October, which will be a very tall order.
