Blake's just noticed that he took a risk.

Is he actually thick, or just 'focused'?

Tyce isn't here so maybe we can agree that he's thick. Maybe 'short-sighted' is more diplomatic.

Hello, Anne!

Hi all. I was going to ask for your forgiveness, because I am watching the coronation, not Trial, today - but it looks as though you are sort of watching it also.

And I believe that it is common knowledge that Princess Anne travelled to the coronation on a special gilded Broomstick of State. Personally, I was rather taken by her fetching bicorne hat.

Hi AnneA. We are doing double-watches.
I'm glad you noticed PA's hat. I thought she looked terribly Hogwarts.

I love the green that Princess Anne's wearing.

In the Abbey I'm annoyed that no-one wears a long dress anymore. No sense of occasion.
Meanwhile, Servalan knows to be wearing her best military whites for a court-martial.

All the people bowing and curtseying reminds me of Aragorn's coronation in the Return of the King.

A few dress tips from Servalan would make all the difference.

I don't feel sorry for Travis at all, despite what R&B say.

The Latin pronunciation of this Vivat Regina is truly - appalling, as Camilla's husband might say. I suppose that that is old fashioned English public school Latin, but it is ghastly.

Servalan's outfit for today would be perfect. And she's not wearing a hat. Hats were not done last time.

Must look for her. Ladies-in-waiting without tiaras. What's the world coming to?!

Servalan would look good in a tiara. Unfortunately, it might be difficult to secure one on such short hair.

Don't normally go for modern church music, but this Kyrie is powerful.

You've an awful lot of this service to get through before we get to the communion, love.

Meaning Charles, not you, of course!

It is possible. The Iranian collection of Crown Jewels is fantabulous. Seen it 3 times. One wonderful thing in it is to be able to see the workings of tiaras. They are anything like the sort of thing you get in costume shops or wedding shops. They have quite complicated frames inside for attaching to hair and heads.

I wonder how much of this people from centuries ago would recognise. (The coronation, not Thalia & co).

The coronation oaths have changed a lot since the middle ages.

That's right. The patina is eye-wateringly wonderful. I have a little commemorative brooch from the last coronation. It's of the anointing spoon. That's 12th century.

Travisina isn't here either, so I'll give her apologies. Not sure what she's up to but it will involve running errands for other people. She does a lot of that.

Just a bit. There was that important 17th century interlude from which point English moved from Middle to Early Modern.

Interesting that the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland says 'sir' and not 'sire'. Slightly cutting him down to size.

The substance has changed a lot too, though. Swearing to obey the laws (made by parliaments) was a very contentious thing in the fourteenth century, and kings agreed to do it with great reluctance.
