Sorry to tell you but I’m a Heaps of fun on a steam Railway - including drinking Pink Astriods! So I’ll miss the rewatch tonight. Cheers Tyce

That does sound like fun!

Hi Anne

I hope all is well at your end.

Sorry I'm late. It is cold here again, and I've had an exhausting week!

Hello, Anne. Sunny but a cold wind over there, I guess?

Is 'fatigue shock' real thing? Why can't she just say they're knackered?

Or is it a sort of PTSD?

Fatigue, yes, but PTSD is how I'd diagnose it. I don't think such a thing existed in the DSM back in them days. If, indeed, the DSM existed.

It's been called different things over the years. 'Shell shock' was the term in WW1.

No, that was Thursday in Edinburgh. Today it's just cold and grey and dull.

Cloudy and chilly here, too.

Strange how Clearwell Caves website boasts that Dr Who was filmed there, but no mention of B7.

That was understood then, because the cause was understood, but the idea that people could be exposed to multiple traumas, not always associated with conflict, came along later. The DSM specifies symptoms.

These Federation costumes must have been for colonial employees because we never see them again. They're very smart.

Allan Prior. The good writers stand out, don't they?

I like Ro snapping at the Commissar.

Just once, I would like to see a sci-fi film/tv programme where mining is fully mechanized and not done by slave labour.

This is his best, though. The others are Hostage (meh), The Keeper (okay, I like that one), Volcano (don't like that one) and Animals... say no more!

Not so much to emote about with mechanised mining. But James Bond shows mechanised mining and I definitely see that as sci-fi.

I wasn't thinking of the fun, so much as extracting much needed minerals efficiently. And avoiding cliches!

M1795537OCVirn
Prior wrote for several 70's/80's TV series, I think. Plus other stuff.

It is. We never see it happen, but it's credible given the time scale. Fan fic?

Yes, I thought I had seen his name attached to episodes I didn't like that much. This is definitely the best of the lot.

I think Animals got stuffed around by cast changes etc. and could have been better. I don't see the script as being majorly at fault. The Keeper I like and the other two aren't so bad, there are just other things that are better. I like this ep. a lot for the subject matter. Gosh, I'd love to meet Chris Boucher.

Vila sounds like an idle rich person "Work?!?"

It can't be that strange a concept for someone growing up in the lower grades of the Dome. Even if he was a professional thief / pickpocket, that would have seemed like work to him - ie a way of getting the means to survive (Maslow's hierarchy begins with food, shelter, basics etc)

Those torture frames look very like assorted sleeping platform frames seen in the mechanics souqs of Syria, where welding is done – entertainingly – with minimal protection.

Work happens when someone else is telling you what to do.
