Rewatch Downunder, Saturday 7th December 202,. D10 Gold.
M1795537OCVirn
Starting times: 8.30pm Downunder, 09.30am UK

D 10 Gold
The episode that makes you think twice about booking a holiday cruise. Dorset, in particular, doesn't look inviting at all. There's a lot of skullduggery going on in this sorry little tale, because everyone seems to be telling lies and double-crossing everyone else. Tarrant acts the fool (yes, I know - again - but this time it's deliberate), Dayna fakes a drug overdose, Vila and Avon outdo each other in greediness, but the winner takes all - and guess who that might be!
Some great acting from guest Roy Kinnear, excellent dialogue between Avon and Servalan (who both smirk, including at each other - be warned) and a vaguely plausible storyline come together to make for an entertaining episode. Enjoy!

Not a problem, cruises is are not my thing, I’ve watched Titanic too often. LOL.

They should have used alcohol and got Vila to play the part. Then there would’ve been no faking required.

As an ABBA fan I need to make a point of telling you the correct phraseology is The Winner Takes It All. LOL

Especially as MsVirn was correctly quoting the original term which was then expanded by ABBA.Smile

Are you suggesting Aussies are slow? LOL

They should know better than to walk into anything involving one of Avon's 'old friends'.

1m: The scorpio is in pursuit of a large vessel

Wow, I had forgotten how awesome this ship model is. One of the best in the series. And the airlock sequence is great too.

Damp and cold, thanks, here in the UK. Technically, we're under a weather warning for Storm Darragh, but as yet, I'm not impressed.
Warning - we're awaiting a 'signed for' parcel in the post. I may have to disappear and deal with it.

I'm in agreement with Vila from way back about Avon not having many or any friends.

Hi JD. How are you?

A little weary. Had a big day driving around doing Christmas shopping with my daughter, but the places we needed to go to were miles apart. We've spent hours in the car and I'm really feeling it.

Also, sorry I haven't responded to your messages. I haven't had a chance to read them yet! We were running around so much I didn't even realise they were there until late in the day.

How are you?

Also - total side thought - I'm wondering if the red lettering design on the side of the Liberator could be made into the word 'Tyce'.

I say what are the BBC actors and crew eating off this week. LOL

As I said, knobbly. But yes, glorious too.

4m: The gang board the ship and meet Avon's contact, KEILLER, who tells them the Space Princess is an empty liner on an automated mission from the gold planet.

It's the guy from the Willy Wonka film! True star power tonight.

The door makes this lovely little sigh noise, indicating it's a pleasure liner but also a little Douglas Adams-type reference. Combined with the Dudley Simpson music this episode is unadulterated BBC VHS scifi

No problem about my messages I assume you must’ve been busy. Although I am sorry you’re so busy that you’re worn out.

I’m good, thanks. A bit busy in the silly season, but manageable busy

Awesome. I love the idea of the red letters on the Liberator spell Tyce.

Yup, finally getting it together - but a bit late with only three more episodes to go.

I'm never sure if I thik the scale of Scorpio and the Space Princess look right together. The Space Princess is like a huge ocean-going cruise liner. Scorpio is a planet hopper rather than a full-on cargo ship, which sounds smaller sized to me.

TBH, I can't imagine the BBC catering would run to any kind of roast dinners, let alone turkey. Maybe the trays were ordered by mistake, meaning they were left lying about just waiting to be grabbed by the set-dressers.

11m: Keiller goes down to the planet to get the hack to process the gold, the others teleport down.

If I was hiding from guards I probably wouldn't wear a bright red jacked

Very seasonal - Keiller is red and jolly and somewhat rotund.
