Rewatch Downunder Saturday 21st September C12 Death Watch
M1795537OCVirn
Start times: Downunder 7.30pm (AEST) UK, 10.30am (BST)

C12 Death Watch
Not my idea of a holiday, watching someone else's war...but maybe it's different in the B7 universe. So we have to put up with a double dose of Tarrant, lots of shiny silver costumes and some 'deathless prose'. Meanwhile, Avon kisses Servalan, while she exercises strict neutrality. Yeah, pull the other one!

Hi, Dodgyville. When the Federation takes over your planet, bad puns and Dad jokes will be outlawed.

Not to make tea in, I hope. Wrong kind of billy, could go terribly wrong.

To keep the grass down perhaps?

M1795537OCVirn
Yay! Good to have you here from the start, Joe.

Ugh, can't believe I have to watch this in standard definition! It's like my eyeballs have been teleported into a cavern with no exits

Thanks Ms Virn, I couldn't miss this one.

I'm looking forward to the unofficial Production Diaries getting up to S3 and S4. The crew have some good costumes in this one. I don't even mind dodgem Avon.

M1795537OCVirn
I don't really think Avon minds whether this is one of Servalan's set-ups. He's remembering that snog last week...

Started.

What are all those fast-moving lights meant to be on the titles? Stars going past? Meteors? They can't be plasma bolts as they shoot past the pursuit ships too.

How come Tarrant still hasn't learned how to be nice to people?

I get the sense from the fandom that this is rated highly but I perhaps rate this as my favourite episode. I think because ultimately it reminds of so many scifi books I read as a kid written in the mid-1980s. To me this is peak 1983-1986 scifi BUT it's from 1980! Like, that's so impressive.

We can watch this imagining what the Blu-ray will be like when we get to it. All these space scenes are going to look excellent, and hopefully the stars out the window of the gallery will look better too. (And the missing view will be restored when we see it a second time.)

Hi everyone. Having missed Moloch (which I don't much like) last week, this week we have Death Watch, which is great fun. Two Tarrants, and an inventive plot. Also Avon kisses Servalan.

I think they're supposed to give the illusion of speed. Avon's in a hurry.

I have never really seen much difference between high definition and ordinary. Perhaps my TV is not big enough?

For me, B7 is at its worst when it apes Star Wars. It's at its best when it leans more into hard scifi and this is the good stuff.

He grew up in the Federation - drugged population, mutoid modification, limiter implants, brain-washing, corruption... They probably sit with their elbows on the table and chew with their mouths open.

I'm fine, thank you. I had a good weekend in Cambridge last weekend - sadly I spent the week wanting a holiday to recover from the holiday!

Welcome AnneArthur!

Not too bad, thanks Tyce, though I've got some nonsense going on that's not helping things.

Did you get the goat to keep the lawn down? We had a couple of goats when I was a in high school, except the bloke on the next property had a herd and ours kept running away to join them.

AnneArthur

Ah, that sort of Billy Goat! Lower maintenance than the ones with minds of their own . . .

M1795537OCVirn

Such a disappointment!! But it will keep the grass down, sort of.

Ha ha, well that fooled me.

Our goats had a kid, which was very cute. It also wanted to climb everything. I could kneel on the ground and it would stand on my back, then I could stand up with it (in a bowing posture) and it would stay up there.

Well it’ll gobble up the leaves anyway.

Tarrant clearly knows that his brother is the champion of Teal. Very anxious to see the contest, while trying to pretend that he isn't. How does he think the others won't find out?
