 UK Rewatch - A8 Duel

The episode: Albert Eight – Duel (Carry On Throwing Nuts) The date: Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which Blake and Travis attack each other with blunt sticks; Sinofar forgets a key piece of clothing; we have Blake and Jenna sitting in a tree, doing N-O-T-H-I-N-G, much to Jenna’s annoyance; and Avon gets all the best lines. Oh, and EVERYONE LIVES for the only time in B7, after Sinofar brings Kia-ora The Mutoid (she’s too orangey for crows) back to life. Episode in a word: FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Character to cheer: I feel so sorry for poor Kia-ora The Mutoid – such a sympathetic character for a blood sucking fiend. Character to boo: Blake. Sorry, it quite often seems to be Blake, for some reason. But he's totally deserving on this occasion. Kiss the girl, for goodness sake! Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Carole Royale (Kia-ora The Mutoid) was the lead character in the late 1980s sitcom “Life Without George”. Best line: “I have never understood why it should be necessary to become irrational in order to prove that you care, or, indeed, why it should be necessary to prove it at all.” Blake's 7 will return in... Carry On Up The Hole. Vote Og.

It isn't often I defend Blake. However, he has come through some traumatic experiences and his actions may not always be what we would consider sensible. In this instance I have to disagree with TT. Blake is in fight for his, and his crew's lives. So being up a tree with Jenna is not the time "to kiss the girl". Cuddle up for comfort, but romance should be the last thing on his mind if they are going to survive the night!
I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

I would, but my DVD always freezes on that particular scene in this episode. I have the same problem with a different scene in next week's episode too. It's not just me. Hugbot has reported the same issue. We think it may be related to us pressing the pause button. Vote Og.

Just getting ready. Tea, biccies and my last box of those choccie pringle shaped things (salted caramel, the best to last!!!) I know that this episode was filmed just down the road from me in the New Forest. I think last year someone pinpointed the area, a private area just off the M27 near Cadnam (and there are plenty of pubs in that area). Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold! Thank you both for that!! Blake could be suffering from a form of PTSD, what they called shell shock in the world wars. He has seen so many friends die that he subconsciously avoids getting close to anyone so as not to go through that again. . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Good evening to you all. Hope today hasn't been too stressful for you. Nice to see Jenna's hair takes a beating, for once, in this episode. It's a pity the duel didn't give us a resolution - might have ended the whole B7 vs Federation thing here, if Blake hadn't gone all 'holier than thou'.
