Rewatch Downunder, Saturday 10th February, A6 Seek. Locate, Destroy
M1795537OCVirn
Start times: Downunder 8.30pm, UK 09.30am

A6 Seek. Locate, Destroy (aka S-L-D)

In which the series finally gets started with the first appearance of Our Glorious Leader Servalan, here ranked 'only' Supreme Commander, since she is so very young and innocent. (The Presidency awaits, Ma'am!). Alongside her is Travis I, a man of many parts, all of them covered in leather and eyepatches.
We also learn that the BBC are rubbish at building RC robots.
Meanwhile, in their excitement at stealing a cypher machine Blake & Co forget Cally and have to make a daring raid to rescue her. This may turn out to be a mistake, as she continues to be taken over by aliens at every opportunity (see last week).

Aha! Good to hear from you, my Antipodean nemesis. How things? Did the cat shrink do any good?

Will it be just the two of us today, I wonder?

Yes, the kitty shrink came. Was here several hours. As I suspected all along, back to first principles is the only way but we're leaving the worst of that until after we've had some hols in March. In the meantime, Louella is on some drugs to cut back her "volatility" and treats to take her mind off "that other cat". Day 2. Fergus is still cranky and angry as. Sigh.

Dunno. Maybe one of those lurkers will materialise into another player.

Well, the number of lurkers has dropped and it's still just us. Blast off?

Yep. THe sooner the better. There's half the episode to get through before Servalan appears.

How could anyone make an updated B7? Owing to computerised locking systems, Vila becomes almost redundant.

The robot can only visualise things on a single plane.

Wouldn't dare, but I've been thinking of it a lot in terms of writing 5th Season stories.

That looks a lot like the corner in the corridor that Travis brings down in a later episode.

Apart from the Moon Boots (Blake's are worse), I rather like B7 boots. Those worn by the Feds are quite nifty.

Well of course. She can't have unfashionable troopers.

If you were making an updated Blake's 7, I think you would have to use the same level of technology and explain it - Federation paranoia about integrated computer systems, perhaps, and perhaps justified by some earlier catastrophe. But why remake? The original is just fine.

I tried writing a PGP story once. Frightened myself so much I haven't finished it. Yet.

Blake - you ARE wasting your time anyway.

Sorry I am so late. I was late anyway, but a crucial extension lead seems to have blown, so I have no dvd player and no internet. I am typing this on my phone.

Hi AnneA.
How are things this week?

As regards updating, I have absolutely no desire to see it at all, but all those younger folks out there on FB keep wanting it. No imaginations, that's all.

That's because they only watch screens and don't read books. It stunts the imagination.

This their first REAL venture against the Feds and it's quite amusing how dithery are our heroes. Not exactly the team to bet on yet.

I suppose it's the world as it is now. If you were remaking x, who would you cast as y is a popular game.

And if we are thinking in terms of PGP, which we all seem to be, we are probably as guilty of it as anyone. We can see how technology has moved on, and we decide how to accommodate that.

And his 'gang' don't do what they're told (looking at you, Vila) so Blake learns he might as well do everything himself.

Yes, I think it was probably overloaded - at least that's what I hope. But I will investigate later. Meanwhile, where are we up to (I am not watching at all)?
