"You're not sulking, I hope?"

OK, I'm ready - what about the rest of you?

Just loading now MsVirn. How are things over there? Empty Pringles containers hidden as per?
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Hi Tyce. How are you? How's your mother going? Are you still in Taswegia?

Hi guys, I’m here. Totally exhausted from mowing my 500 square metres of lawn but here. Are you all well?

The answer to several of my questions. See above. Bet it was overgrown, with more rain expected in a couple of days.

Hello! Only one empty PCP container today - the other still has a few left inside. Have things calmed down a bit for you, Obsidian?
Tyce - was that the lawn you left behind that grew while you were away, or were you mowing your mum's grass? Well done, either way.

Still got a lot to get out of the way MsVirn. Thanks for asking though. Keeping the masses entertained on social media is the worst thing.

This first bit is SO annoying. I know what they're trying to do, but it's just too long.

I like the sleepy Blake effect.

Mother is good, not that you know it from talking to her. She keeps telling everybody how tragic she is, and how bad she is but she’s actually fighting fit.

I’m good, I’d arrived back on Thursday. Was mortified to see how long my grass had grown in a fortnight. I cut it the day before I left, and yet still it was heading towards calf high.

I’ll be taking it easy though tomorrow. So very good to be home.

What DO we think of Vila's outfit? I think it makes him look rather tubby.

Nice to think that some things survive regime change, nuclear war etc. etc. etc.

What a chat-up line - 'I'm interested in your work'!

Sounds like the making of a TV show; "Mother & ...".

Yes, the grass. Unbelievable this year. Turn around and it's up again.

No thank goodness I didn’t have to do Mum’s lawn. She lives in independent living in a retirement village so her lawn is taken care of by professionals.

Hello everyone. The funeral went as well as could be expected, I think - I hope Mum would feel that we did her proud. Not helped by my brother deciding that he couldn't be bothered to stay for the tea afterwards and landing me with the bill . . .However, it is a relief to have it done.

Hi, Anne. Glad the funeral wasn't too traumatic. Brother still being a twat, I see. Not a lot you can do about that. Take care of yourself - you need a rest. Enjoy The Web - but don't take it seriously. I think it's an attempt at a 'comedy' ep.

Watching this for the first time in 1978, Cally must have been very much an unknown quantity, and there must have been real suspense. I have never seen it like that - when I watched it I had already seen the third and fourth series, and knew that Cally was a valuable member of the crew. So I have always shrugged my shoulders and said 'Cally being taken over again' - which is not really what they expected.

I'm glad about that AnneA. Sorry about having no choice as far as brothers go. Angry

I’m glad it went smoothly at least. Sorry your brother was far from helpful and dumped you with the bill. That’s a little unfair of him.

Going back to Vila's outfit, it looks as though he always wanted to run away and join the circus.

When I first 'watched' this I only had sound - another fan made me a set of cassette tapes (!) of the whole thing. I didn't see the thing in a bottle until many years later...

The excuse was that he had to get back to the cat, who was all alone. Of course, if he hadn't insisted on us spending the night before the funeral in an expensive hotel, the cat would only have been alone for a few hours . . .

I quite like this episode, although it's interesting how long this run of early episodes is - before we get to Servalan and Travis next week.

The thing in a bottle is the big let-down of this episode, I feel.

I rather like Geela and Novara's base, although it does look like a distant descendent of Rover from the Prisoner.
