Rewatch Downunder Saturday 16th December D12 Warlord
M1795537OCVirn
Starting at 8.30pm Downunder and 09.30 GMT in the UK.

D12 Warlord.
Avon casts himself in a diplomatic role, calling together a meeting of anti-Federation leaders. I think we can all guess how that's going to turn out. Meanwhile, Tarrant develops an interesting character trait - people who kiss him come to a bad end - I thought that only happened with Avon. Never mind, Servalan is there to finish things up. Sadly, it's the last time we see her in B7, so make the most of it.
You can either watch this one wearing one glove or in a slinky black number with concealed explosives. Your choice.

Incidentally, are you Aussies joining the Northerners on the 21st (at 7.45pm GMT) for the Blake Rewatch? Rather an early start for you, I would have thought. What's the plan?

And I thought I was going to be late! Nobody else here. Oh well, back in a minute.

6:45am is not too bad. Although the 22nd is my birthday and I will have my mother staying for Christmas neither of which conducive to getting up early - but I’ll see how I go. Thanks for the reminder..

I’m here and ready to go, well sort of - I am vacuuming. Well okay Roomba is vacuuming but I like to keep an eye on ‘him’.

Are you all well?

OK here. Are you sure Orac can't access your Roomba?

I hope he can. Then he can pass on my instructions. LOL

Made it! Was looking at stuff on FB. All the people going on about Avon going mad. Of course, they're all experts. As someone who has actually "gone mad", I consider few of them to be in a position to know what that means exactly. Speaking from experience, I would say Vila is as well.

Moving on, let's see how Avon handles it today.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Okay, to paraphrase, a game of hide and seek - starting ready or not!

Hi Tyce and MsVirn. Don't know about making the Blake rewatch. Might. It depends how I'm tracking.

I still have nightmares about this escalator scene, whenever I’m going up or down one.

OK, what's with the 'dreamy' voices? Are they inside the heads of the victims , or being heard in real time? If the latter, what do the troopers make of them?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

M1795537OCVirn
I mention it in passing, since neither of you seem to have noticed, that Avon says they can buy themselves time, not a win.

Obsidian - what you doin' in my posts?

Sorry MsVirn. I just killed one of your posts by not quoting properly. Lack of sleep does not help.

I think it's inside their heads, yes.

I assume you would only succumb if you had been indoctrinated with those voices. Presumably the troopers haven’t been.

Grin Stuffing around.

Yes, Avon makes very clear what would be happening. I don't think he's conceited enough to suggest they'll win.

An optimist would say that with that bought time you have time to try and think of a way to win.

Motorcycle boot sellers did well for this series.

Well of course the Federation wants to subjugate everyone. How else are they going to get all the nice stuff? It's not like they're good at asking nicely.

Avon - show us your.... steady!

I think the beauty of Blake's 7 fandom is that there is room for any number of fan theories about what motivates the characters. You can just ignore the ones you don't like.

Well, if they’re just going to lay down and die in the end, why bother trying in the first place.

Hello everyone. Sorry I'm late, and later because I was watching that opening scene - which is one of the most wonderfully chilling things in Blake's 7. The 'dreamy voice' is Servalan's, isn't it? Not having a great time, as I have managed to pick up a lurgy on my way up to Edinburgh to see my mother. I'm feeling a bit better today, and hoping it isn't Covid.

M1795537OCVirn
Any danger of radiation?

YES!!!

I don't think they're disinfecting the trains properly. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi AnneA
This is true; however, when it comes to psychological illnesses I have quite a bit of knowledge. In the past, people were committed to institutions for far less than either I or Avon or Vila have experienced. It's easy to say "mad" when you don't know what it is.

It would have been worth it if she had been pleased to see me, but she wanted me to do something but couldn't say what it was (she has dementia) and got increasingly irritated with me.

No. There was a wonderful era in about 2021 when they had opened up the railways again, but were really cleaning the trains to limit infection. They seem to have gone back to a quick flick with a duster again.
