B7 Advent Calendar 2023 - Comments
Lurena
@AnneArthur thank you for that story, very atmospheric and insight giving in what could have happened and could have been.

@ Brad, oh Brilliant Brad! I laughed my socks off. And now you've brought me into a singing mood, I can use my socks as puppets, following your performance!

@ Joe Dredd, you brought me into a square dancing mood! Very cheerful and funny.

Oh my, what will the next doors bring? A swimming mood? (can I think and swim at the same time?), a drinking mood? A sleepy mood? ...I'm eager to see what you come up with, but great contributions so far!

I'm just catching up with this, having had the usual stressful start to December.
These are brilliant! Lurena, your stories are excellent. I especially liked the Cally one - that really is how she would have dealt with Vila's thieving, I think. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the crosswords, and Paula's jokes are truly worthy of Vila himself (and there's a backhanded compliment). I loved the '12 days of Fedmass' (and also the chance to win a bicycle by denouncing your parents . . .) and the bawdy songs album. I think my favourite is the Australian Blake's 7, however - the illustrations are spot on, Joe. And as Shelagh is my actual first name (Anne is my middle name), I rather liked all my namesakes!

Paula
Oh, Joe, the K-Tel album parody- you had those rotten K-Tel albums in Ausieland too? Anyway, laughed and laughed. The entire calendar so far has been fab!

Thanks Paula. Not just the albums but the K-tel record selector and all sorts of stuff. I've still got a K-tel bottle cutter tucked away somewhere. Just score half a wine bottle, snap off the neck and shoulder and voila, a glass tumbler that will be the envy of all your neighbours. Turn into a wino as you attempt to build a matching set of eight or twelve!

Great story, Little Sue. I was waiting for something like -

Chevron froze at the sight of Mr Seaton, then ran forward with joy.

"Daddy, oh my Daddy," he cried.

Perks wiped a tear from his eye but said nothing.

I love that bit in the film! Cry every time!!...but no, that wasn't going to happen in this story, maybe another one......
Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold!

I'm lagging a bit behind, having not yet read Little Sue's story and not done the word search puzzle. But I very much enjoyed the other reading and music-related treats so far!

@Lurena: I took my time reading your Zen stories; they have to be savoured one by one and not binge read. Great little tales, and fascinating to see stories like these in a B7 context.

@AA: Another great read! Very chilling, and the more I think about the situation Avon finds himself in, the more chilling and disturbing it feels.

@JD: Deary me! In a way, that's even more chilling and disturbing than AA's story as it brings back memories of terrible TV ads for K-Tel samplers (*shudder*). Well, not really; I actually had a good laugh.

@Brad: I was hoping for a new trumpet rendition, but now you even treated us to a song! With sock puppets! I'll have to listen to it several more times so that I eventually stop giggling and get all the gags.

@Paula: Good to see that you've been busy as the B7 ambassador again, subverting a DW con! Keep up the good work!

Lurena
Paula, I love that great photo of you, Brad and Michael Troughton the Auronar pilot!
My best Christmas wishes in return!
I hope, maybe Michael Troughton secretly watches this forum and reads the comments; my best wishes are also addressed to him!

Oh Littlesue, what a lovely story! And an excellent wordsearch, Nerdy Teen Girl (it took me ages to find Vila, for some reason). And a great photo!

Anniew

Sorry everyone else - I haven't had time to look at yours yet. I will at some point though, I promise.

Lurena- your Advent entry was seemingly simple but deceptively hard. I got about 85% of it done and still have a few words to post to finish the texts. Loved the challenge and I also wanted to say how much I loved the new avatar of you for the Holidays! Gorgeous!

Lurena
@ Tyce, all your answers are correct!!! Congratulations!
I'm happy you liked the challenge and I think you did it super-fast; I hope you did take time to eat and drink?

@Paula, simple things are not B7, aren't they? I'm sure you will reach the 100% and get all the answers right.
And thank you for your kind words re my X-mas avatar.
Once a year I like to show my current face Wink

Sadly not, once I start on something I tend to get a little obsessed.... and refuse to stop till I'm done. I dont know if this is my greatest strength or my greatest weakness. LOL

I already thought so Tyce.
Now I advise you to eat and drink first before you give Hugbot's entry a try and to sleep, eat and drink before you open the 18th door.

@Huggy, thank you for your joyful entry!
However, your comp exp costumes quiz is a true challenge for certain ladies. Not because of the difficulty, but more because of the many costume changes, imagining the scenes in the dressing room. (take a cold shower Littlesue!)

I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

I wish to point out that I do not lurk behind doors..(okay. I did when I saw the postie delivering a nice book shaped parcel the other day) and I too have solved Huggy's difficult costume puzzle...now to take Lurena's advice and go and have a cold shower.....

One of the ones I didn't finish was a Soolin one - so it might see the light of day by next Christmas . . .

Paula
TT- your story was absolutely fantastic and I loved every word! So funny and so clever! Congratulations on making me laugh out loud a number of times- a story for the ages! Happy Holidays!

I just caught up with the Advent thread and I really enjoy all of your contributions!

@AnneArthur two very special stories which I'd like to re-read!

@Obsidian, well now, that image makes me think twice...Wink

@trevor travis, Your story is gripping in a very special way! Neat thought out and I'm going to read it again!

@Brad and Paula, what can I say? There is so much more talent in the two of you than in many professionals! A production can only be good when it comes from your heart and with pleasure!
I also love that Tardis Con photo with your long term friend! That deserves honour!

@Littlesue, sane? Who's sane here? Oh come on, we know each other! But you are right, so please, stay with us for many years to come!

@ To everyone I accidentally missed in my comments, rest assured I saw and enjoyed your contribution.
Thank you for all the fun!

Thanks Paula! Suddenly realised I needed to post it yesterday and not today and finished it off in a hurry. Just edited it to add in a couple more gags plus a further Scooby Doo reference.
