Rewatch Downunder Saturday 21st October D4 Stardrive
M1795537OCVirn
In the UK, we're still hanging on to summer, but not for much longer. UK start time: 10.30am (BST), Downunder starting time is 8.30pm.

D4 Stardrive
In which we see that Avon has no scruples about treating men and women equally - equally superfluous that is - when he sends them to the wrong place at the wrong time.
He also proves he's an even worse pilot than Tarrant, which takes some doing.
I'd like to say there was a happy ending, but this is B7, after all.

Tyce
Good news and bad news.

The bad news is, I’m going to miss the rewatch tonight. :-( The good news is this is because I’m in Melbourne with friends seeing a production of the musical Chess.

Trundle last week, Melbourne this week, hopefully I’ll stay still next week and I’ll be able to do the rewatch. :-)

Have a lovely evening.

Cheers
Tyce

Oh well, sorry to hear you're too busy to join us this time, Tyce! Hope you have fun in Melbourne.

Hi MsVirn. All well on the sandy, green planet?

Virn's looking a bit battered today, Obsidian, thanks to catching the edge of a storm that caused major flooding in Scotland (and elsewhere). Lots of bits of trees on the ground, including two sizeable branches that narrowly missed the cars in the driveway. But we're fine, thanks. Hoping you're startiing to feel a bit better now that you have some B7 company.

Shall we begin?

Ok, while we're waiting I'll do some showing-off; my earrings in Harper's Bazaar Vietnam. I know Hanoi is not exactly the fashion capital of the world, but it's a start. Also have some other earrings featured in a New York fashion magazine called 6X.

Enjoy Chess, Tyce! I saw it in London, many years ago now - enjoyed it thoroughly.

I've started - enjoying the pseudo-Star Wars opening shot of Scorpio.

M1795537OCVirn
Excellent! Well done! Vietnam is exotic, even if it's not known for its fashion scene. Maybe it soon will be!

Those are beautiful, Obsidian! Servalan would love them.

Good thing there were no fallen wires and cables.

Go for it Avon - what could possibly go wrong?

Why are the two women sitting down working, and the three men standing up arguing?

I don't think there's anything really wrong with the idea but it seemed destined not to work.

They've now crashed, and again it seems to be the women trying to do something practical.

Good. It's a National Park so they try not to clutter the horizons etc. Only one power line that goes through the wood beside our place - if anything happens to it we lose power. Seems we got away with it this time.

Did the storm bother you at all, Anne?

Not sure if she'd like the dress, though - right colours, but too flowery,

Agreed, with fewer of those roses and it would work really well.

Well, by this time, two of the crew are feeling fairly distressed. They know what they've got now (Scorpio) is a comedown from the Liberator and they're also aware that they've lost a lot. That's why Avon's making daft decisions and Vila is pretending he's drunk. These boys badly need an analyst, not an antagonist, which is what Tarrant is. The women know when to hold their peace.

It poured with rain all yesterday, Ms Virn, and was quite windy yesterday morning, although that died down quickly. The river will be 'out' in a day or so though, when all that water gets down from the Pennines - I suspect there will be flooding. The rain has just stopped.

Agreed. No roses for Servie, though roses ARE spiky...

Yes, but this assumes that Soolin and Dayna don't have traumatic pasts, which they do. Nobody's undamaged here.

How convenient that they just happened to be recording when the explosion happened. Almost as if it had been scripted.

Further to your previous comments... both Dayna and Soolin must have issues around lost/missing parents. Has anyone written a fanfic about that?

But their damaged pasts haven't accumulated in quite the same way and aren't directly linked to this particular enterprise, whereas Avon's and Vila's are. I'm not assuming a thing. Avon and Vila are suffering from Complex Post-Traumatic Syndrome.

Not good. We didn't get any rain - unusual for the Lakes! Just a lot of wind. Hope you're well out of it.

Both Soolin and Dayna have sought to resolve their issues by dealing with them directly, by wiping out the people they hold responsible.

A good survival tactic, but what might the whole thing do to them emotionally?

Vila has a wonderfully expansive knowledge about all the rough and bad things out there in the galaxy. How he's kept himself safe, no doubt, by running away from them.

I personally think that the major trauma for Avon is being played for a fool, successfully, twice in one year - by Anna and by Servalan. His sense of himself as the brains of any outfit has taken a hell of a battering.

Well, killing people seems very much by-the-by as they are involved in a war. Soolin is hard-bitten and Dayna hasn't managed to deal with things (Servalan) yet. Dayna is very much on the early end of acquiring emotional scars.
