Hi Travisina. The friends all seem to be ok but I've heard that in Syria, onions are nary to be found. Not sure what I can do. We've sent off lots of $$$.

Possibly. The coat is very early – rather than late – '70s.

Onions! We're struggling for tomatoes in the UK, but that's nowt to do with earthquakes.

Avon didn't, which is why he gets that nice white jacket henceforth.

At least when I went to Gaziantep last year I took loads of vege, herb and flower seeds – the sorts of things people grew in their own little house gardens. Don't think I took onions though.

But it is possible. Done it myself many times before. It's the running up the hill at Star One that amazes me.

Anyway, where are we up to? Here, Sarkof is saying he's ready to die.

Hello everyone. I wasn't expecting to be here today, as I was supposed to be at a church synod meeting, but yesterday the minister decided that she didn't fancy driving all the way to Rotherham through the (potential) snow, and that we would attend via zoom - so I have just time to watch this before it starts. Very happy, as I rather like this episode - I like President Sarkoff as a character, and the wood and the folly are delightfully weird.

I like this ep, it's a different type of political story without the involvement of Servalan / Travis around Blake's machinations.
And for those thinking of getting 'Blakes 7: Origins', Bounty and Deliverance were novelised by Una McCormack, and I think she's done a wonderful job.

That fur coat does seem totally impractical for what she is supposed to be doing - is she turning into a Sevalan wannabe?

Very strange!! Sarkoff says he can live with a political assassination. There’s something seriously wrong with that sentence. LOL

Hi Anne!
Amazingly, this Saturday is an oasis of not having any appointments, so I can be here too. I like Sarkoff, though I also find him quite annoying. Tyce should be President, she'd get things done!

The wood and the not-a-folly are still delightfully weird - we did a location outing to Quex Park a few years ago, and it's amazing how unchanged it is. Our tour guide was at great pains to stress that Waterloo Tower wasn't a folly but a bell tower!

Me too. Although of course it's a lovely day and there's no snow to be seen. However, if we had decided to attend in person it would no doubt have been snowing a blizzard. And it looks to be a very dull day - lots of presentations and filler, very little real business, so this way I can sneak off when it gets too boring.

Hi AnneA. It IS fake fur. Chuck it in the washing machine in Liberator's laundry (or out the recycling chute as so many fanfics would have it) once you get back to the ship. In the meantime, boil to death in its synthetic goodness.

Bell tower = folly with bell in it?

It's a secular 12-bell tower - from Wikipedia:
In 1818, the Waterloo Tower was built on the grounds of Quex Park. It is a bell tower built by the owner of Quex Park, John Powell Powell, who had an interest in change ringing. Waterloo Tower was the first twelve-bell tower in Kent.
