Flash Gordon what’s on TV here a couple weeks ago. Brain Blessed in bikini bottoms was a little bit more than I wanted to see. ![]() ![]() GORDON'S ALIVE! Saw a special screening of Flash Gordon at Hatfield University, where BRIAN BLESSED was in the audience (in the row behind me & hubby!) and afterwards did a Q&A on stage. Well, it was one question and the rest was him holding forth at great length (and great volume!) about all manner of things! I got his autograph afterwards on our Flash Gordon DVD. Brilliant evening! Awesome. :-) |

How does 'we've been in space for eight months' work? When on the Liberator it only seems to have been a few days. They must have been on the London for a long time before they rebelled. They'd been on the London four months before their 'plan' to escape... before they found the Liberator, so yes, where did the other four months fit in? Perhaps we are (mercifully) spared four months of them hand washing their underwear (as Obsidian says) and failing to get the Liberator controls to work - and, of course, arguing. We are brought back just at the moment that Zen accepts them. I would quite like a bit of the domestic details and arguing over the Liberator controls! Makes it more character rather than plot-driven. Just seeing the two rooms on the London does tend to restrict things. There must have been showers and a kitchen – with staff. But I do accept that the budget didn't run to them. But other shows don't worry about details like that either if it comes to it. There isn't time on TV to worry about the details, unless it's a long-running series or soap. It has to fill a particular time slot with plot-action-plot. That's why I like fan fic that fills in the gaps! There is no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes

No one ever asked what happened to the people who owned all those clothes? Their curiosity seems to have been rather short-lived. |

'It worked'. Avon's joy is palpable. And Blake tells the others nothing about the mysterious hooded figures. Blake is already being dishonest and manipulative. Blake is very plausible but he's also very slippery and disingenuous. Hey Tyce, do you think Vargas should have won the Summernats mullet competition. Good god! There’s a sad question……. |

Maybe we can lobby Big Finish to have someone write in some of these little extras that mean so much?? Maybe 'Origins' will let us in on some of the 'background'. If only we had a mole in the inside there. Tum ti tum ti tum... Signed, Proofreader of Origins

After all, many people have written brilliant stories in the past that I rate way ahead of the stuff Big Finish is producing. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

The original prisoners on Cygnus Alpha were evidently from Egypt and Turkey, going by the accoutrements in their shrine.

The textiles, the Egyptian one on the altar being worth rather a lot of $$$$$ by now, the two brazier stands (Egyptian) and the ewer and basin (Turkish). Oh look, the Cygnus Inquisition. We were expecting that, I think. What else might one expect? If you've come from the Federation – and even if you haven't – someone's always going to take advantage of everyone else. This is no Big Man society. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Blake was never dishonest, he was always very clear about what he wanted. No, he's a dissembler. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could spit him. As long as everyone does what he wants, it's all fine. He leaves out information in an attempt to manipulate people. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

A mixed batch from BBC props. But how to explain in terms of B7? Did these things come with Vargas' ancestors? Was there trading between Cygnus and other worlds? It's the lazy religious cliche that is irritating. I would like to see a religion that isn't basically a cruel personality cult at some point. But I suppose it does build on human cultural references, and also that it's about the Vargas family's level of sophistication. |

Have a good week, everybody! Glad I was able to join in today. Even though this isn't one of my fave eps, it's necessary for story & character arcs. And it has some excellent moments!
