I have always read Anna's words as meaning that she married Chescu after the Avon affair. No, she says to him that she ran to her husband and that Avon knew she didn't love him. I thought she said that the husband knew she didn't love him. |

Really felt sorry for Avon. He ended up killing Anna but I don't think he intended to. That iterigation officer really didn't know Anna it seems. Hi Pilot53. We're just finishing up here. Sorry you missed it. Yes, Avon is a very tragic figure. He didn't intend to kill Anna but he had to – dog eat dog as they say. And you're right, Shrinker never knew who Bartholomew was. Think Avon got really involved here. But Servalan got the better of him. Speaking of which...I really love how Servalan dresses up both her & Dayna really dress trendy & sophisticated

Belated hello to everyone, and sorry to have missed this ep. Possibly one of the very best in terms of writing, directing and acting, with so many character layers to unpick and speculate on. One thing that's always struck me as odd is when Avon et al enter the house, we (= they) can hear Anna giving a speech. Wouldn't he recognise her voice, or at least react to it? However, that's in story terms. Technically, her speech would have been added to the scene during post-production sound editing, not played in live. So the actors wouldn't have heard it, and (unless it was scripted, which I don't think it was) Paul wouldn't have known to react. There is no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes
